Theres allot of comic book readers on these boards, some i never knew read comics(Erzengel),which pretty much surprised me. Anyways i was wondering if reading comics bought any enjoyment to those who read them.

I use comics to slit my wrists...the paper is great for cutting.

they obviously do goldenage otherwise they wouldn't participate in them or join a board devoted to the subject.

They bring me enjoyment. Why read them if you don't enjoy them?

I still read comics but I go though times where I'm more motivated than other times to read them.
I buy tons of issues and graphic novels but I never get around to reading them lol. But in terms of enjoyment? I mean when there's nothing else to do, yeah.

I enjoy reading them, (good ones) so I guess.:up:

One thing I noticed about these boards during the years I've been here, is how a lot of people actually dont read them, which kinda suprised me...

Comics are no more different than reading a book or watching a television show.

Or in Mee's case, burying a Chinese hooker.

How'd you get a computer down there? :cmad:

I believe that was a story arc for some manga book or a really bad indie comic title...

I haven't read comic in about 2 years since there is nothing out at the moment that intrests me enough to buy but when I do read comics yes it is enjoyable. Comics are entertainment like movies and music.

Not really. They are pretty decent, but I prefer movies or writing as my spice of life. Not to mention coffee!

Yes, if a day goes by without me reading a comic, I cry myself to sleep at night :csad:

to be serious for a fleeting second...

I always considered myself to be on a more intelligent level than those who don't read comics...

For example, it was said in that A&E documentary that no one could've imagine September 11th happening unless they read comics...

I think that the comics and movies and TV and music and video games and books that WE all personally enjoy, because they aren't set within the boundaries of reality means that our minds, unlike those who don't love all this stuff, aren't set within the boundaries of reality either.

Our preceptions are on a much grander scale because based on all the material we love, we've collectively seen just about everything there is to see.

I think our favorite comics, movies, TV, games, books and music make us all more aware of the world around us then those who can't be so clearly defined by their interests...

And besides...comic books are BAD ASS :o

I enjoy the older Marvel comics mostly. The 90's seemed to have hit a "dark" phase with Maximum Carnage and Mephisto sagas (among others). Since my son was born I haven't had the time to hit my favourite comic dealer to pick up his discounts (older comics)... so I don't know if the "dark" phase is still going on. To be honest, finding the time to read is more difficult too.

That said, I don't know how I would have made it through the "dark" phase of my life without comic books. (I guess I would have had to read more SF&F.) Peter Parker's puns ARE priceless.

Maximum Carnage was a huge advertisement gimmick. But how i miss those days. :csad:

Holy s**t I remember Maximum Carnage

They even made a video game off that arc...yeah I miss those 90s gimmicks to.

Variant covers, massive crossovers, Marvel NOT in bankrupt...
