If a movie has an R-Rating, then all trailers should expose the film for what it is. Giving us a the green band trailer first, to movies like Role Models, Zach and Miri seems pointless. It's not like kids will see the movie anyway. It doesn't get me excited for a film when all the good stuff is covered up. Green band trailers should only be shown in theaters screens that are showing PG-13 films or lower(could be wrong with the ratings as it's different here). When it comes to the internet, these green band trailers for movies that have received r-ratings should not be shown. It's not like anyone really wants to see a tame trailer to a film that's not tame. And at the end of the day these red band trailers will be released on the net, so why not show them first and get good buzz going early on?

Because you can't show them in theatres, or on TV. Just because you CAN see an R rated movie doesn't mean you automatically know about every R rated movie the second it is thought up. You still need to advertise.

Like I said, show the green band in the screens that are showing movies for underaged people and for tv, but for 18+ movies show the red band trailer. I've ever seen the point to releasing the green band first on the net.

So you would want the best stuff spoiled in the trailer?

Showing a red band version of a trailer doesn't mean it has to show the best stuff. For example, Zach and Miri red band didn't spoil anything.

Because people are stupid. :o

They showed the red band trailer for Hamlet 2 when I went to see Tropic Thunder.

Because advertisement exists. Why do you have to watch an R rated film in order to catch a red band trailer? Think of all of the people that a film can lose just because there is not a green band trailer for it. What if the given film's trailer doesn't play in front of that big summer blockbuster? What happens then? The red band trailer is merely a treat for somebody going to another R rated film.

Think about it.

Exactly.
Watchmen played in front of TDK and it will be Rated R. Step Brothers opened a week later and it was rated R, it made what $30 million in its opening weekend? Now what would you have done? Attach it to the biggest movie of the decade or some Will Ferrell R rated comedy that is opening against the second weekend of TDK?

The green band trailer may make a film look okay such as Superbad but they still have to get people's attention.
