I do, and i can´t imagine why many people don´t, hence the thread.
Everytime i start a game, i only put it down when a finish it, and i don´t just finish the main storyline, but i do every sidequest the game has to offer (in case of RPGs).

I've only finished a small percentage of all the video games I've ever played, let alone purchased. If I get bored with it, I'm not going to continue playing it.

Why? Bc other games come along. i would say I have not finished a good number of games I buy. Though due to the trophy system, Im finishing games alot more now and playing them more than once, getting more out of them

^^^ This. If Im not compelled to play a game, I wont go out of my way to beat it and do every little thing in it. I move on bc theres other things that can fill my enjoyment level.

Right now for my PS3 I have:

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - got it back in 2007 and never got past the first level
Valkyrie Chronciles - Got it last year when it went on sale for $40. Played like 3 missions
Demon Souls - Bought last fall. Played an hour
GTA IV - Episodes from Liberty City - Actually playing through the first story now
Dead Space - Got this month but may hold off on it till DS2 is closer to release

All good games, but bad timing as far as other titles that were released around the time I got them. Plus with school, I cant play everything I want so I have to push stuff aside.

I Try to finish every game I have at least the main story mode.I don't buy another game until I'm done with the ones I have.

I'd say I maybe finish only half of the games I buy...if that.

Main reasons are, I either get bored with it, the game doesn't live up to what I was expecting, or the multiplayer.

I'll go through campaigns on games, then try the mulitplayer, and if it sucks me in, I completely forget about single player. But then, there's the obvious, new games come out and I move on to them.

I really do wish I could finish them. I want the achievements. But, I do end up going back and rebuying games to try and finish them up. Case in point. Today I bought Spider-Man: Friend or Foe-just to finish it off and get my needed achievements.:o

Games cost too much for me not to finish them. Even if I'm buying used, it's still a decent grip of money to just get bored and put them down. I try to test out games before I get them though. Either I'll download the demo or borrow it from a friend to see if it's something I'd enjoy.

If im spending 60 bux on a game, chances are im going to finish it. Then again, i have a great eye for what makes a good game(more so than most), so the games in my collection are generally stellar titles(i do have a few duds tho). The only time i dont finish a game, is if its just poor, which happens rarely with me as i dont purchase poor games or if another game comes along and takes my attention away. However, with most games iv been playing lately, the stories are so good that you just have to finish it. Its like watching a movie and just stopping half way through.

I certainly don't buy a game under the assumption that I'm not going to finish it, but it happens. If a game loses my interest, then I don't see a point in playing any longer. Or other games might come out that I want to play more than my current one. Sometimes I'll come back to an abandoned game and sometimes it will be doomed to collect dust or be traded in. That's just how it goes.

No. Game can become redundant, too time consuming, can't bothered doing all career of racing games.... stuff like that. Usually still get a good half dozen hours out of them and most bought of steam sales for next to nothing. Unless it's a story-driven game that's really good, not that big of a deal for me personally.

No.

God couldn't force me to finish that travesty of a "game:rolleyes:" Final Fantasy XIII. I traded that s*** in and bought my mom Wii Sports Resorts. We're both far happier from it.

consuming, can't bothered doing all career of racing games....
That´s one of the reasons why i´m not big on racing games.

Personally, i can´t stand to start a game and not finish it.
That´s why i have a bunch of games i haven´t started yet; i only start a game when i´m in the mood to dwell on that universe.

Its like watching a movie and just stopping half way through.
Exactly!
And i don´t particulary care for virtual paintball.....err....multiplayer.
I played them, i get addicted like everyone, but after some weeks i get myself thinking, why the hell i´m i playing this.
I need an objective, a story, to care for a game.

I don't keep playing a game until I've beaten it. Often I play it until I get bored (and I'll get bored of every game, no matter how good) and put it aside. Then later, I'll pick up from where I left off or, if it's short, just start all over again.

Better question is do you 100% the games you beat which I don't unless I really like it. I don't bother getting every achievement/tropy either.

I don´t care for achievements to the point of trying to do them all, so, unless is the ones you do just by playing, they need to be great for me to try to do them.
I only have two games with 1000 achievement points, one XBLA and the other retail: Puzzle Quest and the expansion and Assassin´s Creed II.

I do like achievements, great ones are a blast; but great ones are not easy to come by and the crappy ones are the norm.

I usually beat every game that I purchase, the only exception is sports games.

Ive only gotten into the habit of 100% games bc of the trophy system but if its too tedious, I dont even bother. Like I went after that with Red Dead bc it was feasible but didnt attempt it with GTA IV bc it was too time consuming and not that fun

I think the only game I owned but never finished was Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox. It just got too damn hard.

I hate that game so much. It's such a great ninja game but it's so frustratingly hard. When I tried playing, I had to spend all my money on buying health potions. Part of the fun is playing around with the other weapons.

I have the PS3 remake which is supposed to be easier. I couldnt beat the boss my first time and never went back. I keep meaning to go back and actually try playing it.

I try to. I'm still trying to finish fallout 3 and i bought the GOTY edition too. lol god damn that games massive. I need to find the damn time. hehe other wise I make it a rule to finish them before a sequels out if there is one. Though if their more like mass effect or borderlands where you can progress your character through new dlc intallment or porting of the sequel then yeah I'll make an extra effort to try and finish it.

I've been trying to recently to get 100% achievements on games as long as there isn't an online component, then I don't even bother, especially after Gears of War 2, there was just way too much and you really have to rely on strangers to help get these.

I usually try to complete the story mode on all my games, but I have got a good backlog right now that I'm trying to work through;

Okami - Got this for my birthday almost 2 years ago now, I've tried playing a few times, but just can't get sucked in

Fallout 3 - Got this for Christmas '08, another game I can't get sucked into

Hawx - Got this the weekend after Thanksgiving last year for about $20, haven't gotten around to start playing it yet though, due to other games getting in the way

Resident Evil Wii Edition - Got it for real cheap, about $15, around May, been finishing other games before starting this though

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - I have one star still to get, planning on playing as long as it takes tonight to get it

Overlord: Dark Legends - Got this on clearance a couple weeks ago for $10, will either start this or Resident Evil after finishing Mario Galaxy

I really want to finish all of these games and am planning on it. The biggest problem is I get many games when they go on sale for deep discounts and don't have a whole lot of time to play them with everything else going on in my life. Between work, a girlfriend, family parties, hanging out with friends and training for a marathon, I just don't have a lot of time to play videogames. In addition to those games, I want to work on more achievements for Splinter Cell: Conviction, Assassin's Creed (since I got 100% on 2) and the two Bioshocks. Although, the only game I want between now and November is Metoid, so hopefully I'll get through some.

I finish every game I buy.
Sometimes only the story mode.
If the game is too darn good and fun, then I do all the side quests, too.

i've only finished a handful of games

really though, the only game i play constantly with friends, online, or career mode is FIFA

i have a PS3 and have about 20 games, and out of those 20 have really only finished 5 of them (Batman:Arkham Asylum, Ghostbusters, Grand Theft Auto 4, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, and Uncharted)

with the rest of them i play every now and then and try to get as far as i can

but i lose interest a lot of times

I love that game.
And i´ve finished it too.
It´s hard, there are bosses (and non bosses) that will you want to break your tv in half, but, in the end, it´s doable.
It´s not cheap hard, imo, all is required is skill.
But, the last boss, imo, was easier than i thought, i didn´t died, and everyone say is the worst of all.....go figure.

But i haven´t played Ninja Gaiden 2 yet...and i have it.
