who's up with that? I am already expecting the transformers II & III without even watching the first one. :woot:

Episode?

Peter Cullen and Shia L. (don't know how to spell that mother-ufcker, lol) both signed on to two more sequels...and they're already planning out a second film, possibly with [BLACKOUT]Unicron as the villain, meaning the Autobots and Decepticons would team up, ala X2.[/BLACKOUT]

Althought, Michael Bay hasn't been signed to direct the second or hopefully third.

similar question. how far along you want to see the next episode (trust me steven is thinking about too)?

1) next year?
2) maybe later than next year?

the 2nd one probably won't begin pre-production until the beginning of next year at the EARLIEST and that's considering they'll have a director by then. Michael Bay's connected to 2 other films right now (2012 and Prince of Persia) so he'd have to sacrifice one if he wants to come back for the sequel.

it's been almost 2 years since we first saw the Optimus Prime truck with the teaser covering it so it took about that long to make this movie. so if they start post production as early as the beginning of next year (doubtful) we probably won't see TF2 until 2010. so i'd say 2011 is more of a realistic number unless they can dish out the special effects faster.

whatever way they do it....i hope they use James Cameron's stereoscopic 3d technology for the sequel!

sure the production speed is gonna a LOT FASTER! this first one they are almost doing things never done before.

at least there won't be much time do those crazy modeling for those giants next time.

I am looking forward to this moving a lot earlier.

i understand that this is their first time going through this so they'll be treading on familiar territory but you also have to think that, as big of an action/special effects extravaganza this movie is going to be....the next one has to top this one and that requires MORE work.

so...if they'll be able to do a sequel on par with this one it should take them maybe a year to a year and a half. a movie like that would come in 2009 at the earliest and that's pushing it. if they want to make a sequel that's BETTER than this one then they'll probably want to push for a 2010 deadline, maybe 2011 if they decide to incorporate more of the galactic aspect into the story...

I think I might wait until I see the first one before worrying about number 2 and 3.

Will the sequels have recognizable characters or just use the same names?

"Meet Devastator, a green/purple ice cream truck that combines with a golf cart and looks like a giant robotic chicken."

Devastator!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow!!!!!!! based on the current CGI quality!!!!!!!!!! that name you just mentioned already freaked me out. :D

let me give you a hug. you might cheer up!

I fully expect the sequel to be 1) more epic (as all part 2's should and usually are) and 2) and include the original's overriding story arc.

"They came for the Allspark. But, they stayed for Earth's energon."

I wanna see glowing energon cubes, Soundwave, more Autobots like Cliffjumper, Constructicons building a space bridge and Devastator defending it, and hopefully at the end SHOCKWAVE! If they do the Unicron thing, I'll be so upset. That should be Part 3.

I'll be a happy camper if that day ever comes. I'll even be OK with Michael Bay coming back. Maybe.

Baby steps, big guy. Let's start with you not hating part one first ;)

in fact, after seeing all the CGI and the whole story. I think probably mr. Spelbergb more and more wants to have a hand in this. :D

you guys think he's gonna take over as a director for the sequel?

or probably not, he may screw it. (like war of the worlds).. :D

Ofcourse there will be transformers 2 with Fortress Maximus stomping decepticons like a bugs :D

Transformers 2:

SS returns with Soundwave, Thundercracker Skywarp and Astrotrain trying to salvage the Allspark. It's
It was used by Spike to resumably kill Megatron but it's life giving energy has sustained Megs. Trying to retrieve it they wake megs again from the bottom of the ocean.

Other Autobots have come to earth, per Primes, transmission. Mirage, Hound, Sideswipe and Wheeljack are part of the line up.

It's a no brainer for this kind of movie to be planned as a franchise. With all the money spent to build awareness for the first movie and the CGI models done, a couple of sequel help to amortize expenses.

There better be Grimlock in the 2nd or 3rd Movie. Oh, and I hope Starscream undergoes a major re-design.

Isn't there a sequels forum?

But to add to this...I am hoping for some space action. If they can pull this movie off then the sequels will probably take place further on in the future. Actually, I'll hold off until I see the movie until I start talking sequels...that way I know where they are trying to head with the story.

I wouldn't even hope for sequel to already come next year. Most likely in 2010, but it's all about studious' descission.

It's already been confirmed that Unicron is in TF 2 and the Autobots and Decepticons will have to team up ala X2. But like someone said there's a sequel forum..and the link to the confirmed news is in there.

Sigh. I have a feeling we're never going to see a TF sci-fi story that relates to Earth and follows the original's overriding plot themes:

"Earth, which from their perspective is rich in the minerals and chemicals they need. Disguising themselves as cars, airplanes, etc. easily recognizable to humans, the Transformers engage in a secret war for control of Earth's bountiful natural resources..."

Quite possibly the only adapted franchise to completely IGNORE the original source's themes. Of course, we never know.... but I doubt it. Not with Michael Bay at the helm.

The TV show version of Hulk ignored quite a bit and was still quite popular.

To the point where it impacted the 2003 movie when filmmakers tried to appeal to both comic and tv audiences.

And if you say "it's a guy who gets big and green" is thematically the same, then "it's giant robots from space fighting each other" is the same as well.

But you're right, if this version resonates with the public, you may not see it.

Or, you never know, Unicron may be going to Earth for it's resources.. Megatron may want them for himself, yadda yadda yadda..

When we will se unicron in a movie? The 22th century may be hahaha
