Do you like Batman: Mask of the Phantasm?

I like the story, the atmosphere and the music but I don't like Dana Delany's (Andrea Beaumont's) voice.:ikyn Also I don't like the fact that Mask of the Phantasm was given the barebones treatment. Meaning they just converted Batman: Mask of the Phantasm to DVD without special features...I mean how hard is it for them to transfer the HBO First Look of Mask of the Phantasm onto DVD?

I enjoyed MOTP for what it was.

The story was good but didn't blow my mind or anything. And the animation was nothing special. Then again, I've always hated the aesthetics of the animated series, with Dick Tracy incarnating Batman (and some other characters) and buildings looking like giant 1930's radios.

I saw this film some times back in 1994 or so and never felt the urge to watch it again.

It might be the time now for a revisit.

Havent sat down and watched the film in awhile, but I remember enjoying Mask of the Phantasm quite a bit. And I absolutely love the bologna loaf/hatchet momentary indecision by the Joker. :D

I like it but I don't like that the woman is the Phantasm. I'm not a big fan of female villains.

I really enjoy this movie. The flashback scenes drag the pace of the movie a bit. The Joker is fantastic, and despite his limited screen time, I think he steals the movie.

Me? I love it.

Question is who doesnt like it?

It's very hard to dislike this movie. I think it's fantastic, compelling...And I absolutely love Bruce talking to his parents. They did a great job with that.

Are Batman movies suppose to "blow your mind?" Because that hasn't happened to me yet. The Tim Burton films, the Joel Schumacher films, the animated films and the Christopher Nolan films haven't blown my mind.

Loved it and still love it. Great animation and some great voice work. The animation doesn't hold up well today, but it was fine for it's time.

Considering the budget and compared to the animation on some of the BTAS epidodes it was great. I agree though, it's nothing too spectacular.

I'm going to end up sounding like a broken record someday saying this in every MOTP thread.

But MOTP is, to date, my favorite Batman movie, even when compared to the live-action films.

That is the right question. I loved Mask of the Phantasm. It was a top notch story. Don´t tell me the Phantasm got the barebones treatment, because she didn´t. Her character was very developed in this movie, she had a strong personality I liked that. It was a love story, I loved how Andrea was a parallel of what Batman could be if he tried to get vengeance. She was a likeable character, and I loved the flashbacks to Bruce´s past. It was almost like an origin story for BTAS

It was a mature story of Batman. It blowed my mind that the only reason Bruce would not be Batman was because he found happiness, he found love. The Joker was absolutely amazing in this movie. Somehow he was responsably of Bruce´s fate. And he actually killed in an animated form.

The animation was very good. Being a movie, they broke a lot of thing they couldn´t do in a normal cartoon format, like breaking crystals or blood.

Bruce Timm and his team really did a good job on this. I hope we can get a upgraded version of the DVD, with more extras.

Here is my tribute:

Yeah shameless self-promotion from time to time never hurts anybody. I suggest you change the title to "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm apreciattion thread" or something in that line.

I wasn't talking about the Phantasm as a character I was talking about the lack of extras on the DVD. Read my post thoroughly next time.

You deserve a medal if you can find someone in Bat-Boards who doesn't like BMOTP. :cwink:

Absolutely. As any good movie should. Good movies are not the ones that leave you indifferent you see.

Because that hasn't happened to me yet. The Tim Burton films, the Joel Schumacher films, the animated films and the Christopher Nolan films haven't blown my mind.

You might want to try another superhero maybe.

Burton and Nolan had blown my mind so far. The animated series never did. MOTP's animation specifically was not even better than in any regular episode.

Love Mask of the Phantasm. It was actually considered to be the best Batman film around here until Batman Begins was announced.

OK. Sorry you didn´t need to yell. I also wrote about that issue. Low down the caffeine, is not that big issue.

Talking about MOTP. A little fun fact: Andrea Beaumont is named after Andrea Romano.

It's not until you see this movie that you truly understand and appreciate the saying...

'They don't make 'em like these anymore!'

:csad: Quite sad really!

Best BM film after The Dark Knight.

The noir atmosphere is what makes the film...and the Joker is genuinely chilling at times. I love how he gets hired by his old mob buddies and then turns on them...like in TDK

Best Batman Movie EVER.

Seriously, not even The Dark Knight beats this for me. In fact, MOTP trumps it. It captures the feel of the comics and has a beautiful story. The scene where Bruce puts on the mask for the first time was amazing, and the villain was well drawn out. Mark Hamill will always be my favourite joker. I don't think I'll ever get a batmovie this perfect again. Like an earlier poster said, when you watch it you get that total feeling that they don't make movies like this anymore :waa:

MOTP is the best interpretation of the characters of Batman and The Joker to hit the screen. The Dark Knight is great, but MOTP is perfect.
