Yes, like the invention of the wheel, or the first time that filthy cro-magnon saw sparks form from that crack of lightning into a pile of dry leaves, the invention of the internet transformed us from Luddites to Hypesters. When you first heard about it, what was your thought process, and what was the experience like? I remember the first time I actually went on a website was in 1995, because there was this thing called AOL that would let you view encyclopedia information on some mainframe server as opposed to having to actually use the books in the high school library. Then the rumblings of porn came about, and well...the rest is history. :awesome:

I believe it was for a Digimon game on the FoxKids website.

Memories...

in the early 90s. Second or third grade. We had a substitute teacher who took us to the computer lab for our very first internet experience.

Within 15 minutes, one of the kids stumbled on Tiny Toons porn.

All I remember is that it took forever to get online.

Early '90s, Tandy Radio Shack IBM clone, adjusting jumper settings on a 2400 baud modem, running up my father's credit card (you paid per minute back then) because I got addicted to newsgroups...

then came AOL... the bane of the internet.

lolz I was like in the 8th grade, trying to find any and everything DBZ related, i remember waiting some hour and a half to watch a 10 second clip. Family friends would piss me off when they would call the house and kick me offline. I use to think those free AOL disc were the ****, that feeling died quickly

i remember Netscape Navigator hehe

the first time i ever heard of the 'world wide web' was in 3rd grade? maybe 5th? definitely one of those two

at home i had a packard bell that ran windows 3.1 and had a 0mps modem. i would login to my email, take a shower, then come back and wait for my inbox to pop up

:woot:

My aunt still is on dial-up, as crazy as that is. She says she doesn't do anything but check her email once in a while, so hey.

It was around winter 1997, i went on a free trial in my local shopping centre. I just wanted to see what news there was on the next Batman film. It was Howard Stern for Scarecrow and Madonna as Harley.

"Quick, load! My parents are coming downstairs!"
Yeah. I remember this being one of my first things too, except of course, well you know it was more:

''****! LOAD LOAD! I HEAR A DOOR! MINIMIZE DAMN IT! I CAN'T BE CAUGHT LOOKING AT A GUY! ****! LOAD! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I ****ING HATE YOU!~ :cmad:"

Haha, aw

I think mine was late '97 too... I was eleven and it was in computer class. The teacher told us we all had to find a website related to the enviroment and I went to a Captain Planet fansite. He told me off and made me close it, the bastard. Hehe.

I remember changing the .wmv welcome file on AOL so when my mom signed on it said, "You've got mother****ing mail b****" cost me a summer of freedom when I was 14.

I was in high school. Early 90's. I remember using AOL for the most part. Then I remember actually typing in a www web address and thinking, "Wow! I'm talking to someone in Australia!"

lol yeah, looking up dbz power levels or something like that.

Wasn't all it was cracked up to be, was it?

:awesome:

My family had just upgraded but I remember my first real experience was trying to load a 2 minute fan trailer which took about 4 hours to load for the Spawn movie, so that was around 1996. :o

I vaguely remember using it for Neopets and Bionicles. I was about 7 or 8.
