Finally, Im guessing the tank pictures are Devastator a Tank Decepticon who wreaks havoc in the big-ass giant robot brawl late in the film
OH! For those Talkbackers wondering about Megatron in this movie...Megatron is a JET in this draft of the script. There are indications that certain Transformers' names and/or "identities" may have/might still change, so I suppose there's a chance this might not stick. And, Optimus is a truck.
A tank with devastator`s name in a fight late in the film. Sounds like they are trying to dodge fan arguements about the gun-tank issue by bringing in the cyberton jet bit as a red herring and secretly having megatron as the tank. It just seems to make sense to me they get the fans complaining about the cybertron jet idea so that the whole tank/gun issue is long forgotten when the movie comes out.
Thereby many fans will be so angry that megatron is supposed to be a cyberton jet that when they reveal in the cinema that he is a tank fans will be relieved and forget that they ahd spent 200 pages of message board space saying they would blow up ilm if megatron was a tank and not a gun.
It`s like the way marvel brought organic webshooters into the spidey comic. In a plotline they gave spidey organic webshooters and the ability to talk to insects and bugs. Fans were so annoyed by talking to bugs rubbish that the backlash over the organic webshooters was far more muted than the inferno that erupted when the idea was put forward in the pre-production of the spidey movie. A couple of months later the bug talking ability was dropped and then fans had been coerced into accepting the organic webshooters bit.
I dunno if the organic webshooters bit is still there in the comics but the ploy was sound and very cunning.
