It bothers me alot. This film was all good ideas to me so far. And then this. Truly horrible design. It's just awful and not menacing whatsoever, I really hope they moved away from that art a long time ago. Wasn't the Lizard in the trailer people saw, described to be alot more animalistic and well...scary?

Yes. RIM has confirmed that this promo art is a horrible representation of the final product.

Dude, it's not even close to what was shown in that SDCC footage. That thing (yes, it's damn scary) was huge, deadly and sinister.

Don't worry my children, everything will be okay.

Relax guys. This is just his wrestling look.

something looks wrong with it. I am huge spider man fan but something looks off. I am fine with no wearing his lab clock. Hopefully they can fix it since it is cgi so they can make changes to him in post production.

Well, for one Lizard doesn't have to have a labcoat on in EVERY scene and I actually quite like this. I wouldn't mind no snout as the snout will ultimately limit the emotions that can be convied by Rhys Ifan's face. And seeing as The Lizard is one of Spider-Man's many Jekyl and Hyde type villains I think that's extremely necessary.

Someone beat me to it with the picture, but definitely don't have a problem because - Steve Ditko. This is the first ever version of the character. The design itself is just... jarring, I guess because it looks really grotesque - but in a good way... like Brundlefly.

I'm sure he will at one point or another. I mean, I don't think Dr. Connors will be teaching high school students nude.

Anybody think he'll have clothes on at one point?

I'm almost positive they will. I also think Lizard will have ragged clothes throughout most of the film like in the comics. As per why the clothes aren't in the concept art - it'd be easier to look at and take in every part of him that's changed without clothes in the picture - provides something to go off of. Doubt many concept art pictures included the clothes since the main focus for effects and etc. to go off of is Lizard as a whole. I mean, I doubt Lizard will strip down or his clothes will completely rip off him when he changes. The clothes will probably get wear and tear throughout the film until finally they can't hang on anymore.

I feel the same. I love the Ditko design, and prefer it much over the long snouted version. But the concept art itself looks pretty weird to me. I like the PEZ better haha!

First of all, the body looks much more reptilian than the head. Secondly, while I love the Ditko design, his face in the concept art looks way too human to me. It's probably the eyes, teeth and small mouth. Third, the picture makes it look like he has no neck at all. The head looks a little misplaced, like cut & pasted on the body.

Something is wrong with his head. It's slightly disproportionate which is why I was hoping that the Lizard's physique would be bigger. He just looks too slender in the promo art. Am I on to something?

Yes, you are on something. Now pass that sh-- around.

That thing looks more like a distant cousin of the Sleestaks than the Lizard.

The reason this new design bothers me a little is because The Lizard was supposed to be the one Spider-man villain who completely lost his humanity making him a more tragic figure.

Even Ditko's version had big lizard eyes to make the Lizard look less human. These pictures look like a human face painted green. That doesn't seem like Connor's is lost in the transformation.

But it's not a dealbreaker for me.

I like the art for the most part. A longer snout might look scarier though. It wouldn't surprise me if they weren't looking to go that far away from human proportions.

His face looks zero percent scary. But, even the blurry leaked footage looks different than this. Plus, this is concept art which means concept and not the actual design. If Sony doesn't want to show us the Lizard then they aren't going to show us the actual design art that was used to make the monster.

To be honest, I still think he has the snout, even in the concept art. It's just at an angle where it's not visible. There was a shot from the Comic-Con footage that had the exact same facial shape.

I just wanted to see some reasons, specifically, why people needed the snout.

Please don't delete or merge. I think an extended conversation on this topic could be insightful.

I think people wanted to see the snout because they wanted a less-human look.

Just thought I'd post this for anyone who needs another look at it. =P

It bothers me a little, but I can see the reasoning behind it. This version of the Lizard actually looks part human.

Agreed. My question is why does the Lizard only have four digits? Lizards and humans both have five digits on their limbs, so I was expecting Connors to retain the same number of digits.

I think one of the pros to losing the snout is that you can use practical effects which I prefer to fake looking CGI.

I'll give my cons later.

Actually, werewolf movies have accomplished snouts with special effects, as shown in this picture from The Howling.

I will be sadface if that is the actual Lizard design we see in the movie. He looks like something you would see on Star Trek sans the tail. I hope we get a huge, awesome, hulking, scary Lizard.

Am I the only one who thinks Lizard's facial expression and teeth make him look somewhat like a green rat? :S

I think it needs sharper, more reptilian teeth.

He really does! And more evil eyes and grin. I find it weird that all of his body has become so reptilian that he even has great claws and a long tail, but his face hasn't transformed much at all (and I'm not saying that he should have a long snout but at least he should look more scaly and reptilian in his face, as his body does)

I'm pretty sure the actual Lizard looks a bit different than this. He does have a bit more of a snout and is less yellow.
