Does Halo Look Great?

How good does Halo 3 Look?

  • VERY very Good - Like Gears Of War

  • About as good as Most other Shooter games

  • Unforunately, it's one of the worst looking Xbox 360 games

how typical of a biased person...picking a screenshot that supports his opinion. why not post something that goes against it? like this for instance...

killzone-2-20070711011953660.jpg

Well, I thought I'd give you the benefit of the doubt and pick a screenshot that wasn't quite so riddled in crappy textures and jaggies. Not to mention that for some reason, parts of that guy who's standing right in front of you's armour has some weird blurred textures (as does the guy directly to your left). Actually, all of the textures on there are blurred to some extent. None of them are actually crisp. Which sort of proves my point.

The only thing that I see that doesn't have some weird texture blurring is that wall straight in front of you, the character.

lol. is there no end to your ego?

No, it keeps going and going. Sort of like the energizer bunny. Though, not to take away from your own moment in the limelight.. I did notice quite a few ego-filled streaks from you, yourself. You should be just as proud as me.

:woot:

my ego is pretty big but i try not to use my ego to compensate for other things that i lack.

i've already said the reason i'm dropping this argument. regardless of what you chose to believe, i do have better stuff to do than to argue about a video game that's still more than a year away with someone who would probably claim to know the secrets of the universe if someone challenged him.

Hopefully some jerk mod doesn't ban you for that. Maybe Morg's done with his "power" trip.

No, I am questioning the extent to which you think something is bad. There's a huge difference.

That would depend on the context of the conversation and you've chosen a pretty poor example either way.

Good Lord. Just throw the phrase in an editorial software like Style Writer or any online editor and see for yourself if any redundancies, double negatives or any other grammatical error comes up. Go ahead. I dare ya. Because you're really acting like a thickhead here.

There is only ONE. NEGATIVE. IN. THE. SENTENCE.

The verb "decrying" was never and is never considered as a form of negation in the English language. Go brush up on your reading comprehension and stop eating my brain. Dumbass.

Even after company execs clearly laid it out in layman's terms? Then it's not my problem you want to keep your heads buried in the sand.

Are you...deliberately acting dumb? The episodic content can be considered as a kind of mini-expansion packs which MS will sell through the Live Marketplace. I really can't believe how you're constantly baffled by the idea.

JUST GO AND READ YOUR OWN GODDAMN NEXT-GEN.BIZ LINK!

Microsoft announced in the E3 press conference that Xbox Live had reached the 7 million mark as of July 2007 (which will most definitely increase significantly with the release of Halo 3). That is almost 65% of the total user base. You are the one who is reaching here. Why don't you do your homework before babbling nonsense like a clueless baby that needs to be spoonfed every bit of information?

I'd love to post actual prices of components from online retail stores but I'm starting to lose patience with your bull**** already and knowing you, you'd simply act like an incorrigible moron yet again not reading my posts and post even more gibberish. You want to play Alan Wake on the PC? Fine. Knock yourself out.

Wow, I actually thought you had quit. Alrighty, here we go again. Wow, there are actually two battles happening concurrently.

1. What would depend on the context of the conversation? The use of the words "as bad as" in association with something? this is as bad as this is the only logical way the sentence can be formulated. My argument, so to speak, was that you could have formulated your sentence better instead as in "as bad as you ignorantly claiming.." because you already made it abundantly clear that I was condemning something when you mentioned "bad." Sure, the exact degree isn't explicated there, but neither is it explicated with "decry" either. In other words, your entire sentence never contended the "extent" of anything. Edit: I meant that your use of "decry" never clarified the extent of anything. And lol I said that obviously it wasn't a double f***ing negative. My point is that it falls into the same fallacy. You use two words to imply what one word could have already.

2. It's 54% of the 60 something percent of all online users. I was wrong about it being closer to 20%, but I could have sworn it was around those numbers a minute ago lol. Anyways, my bad. Avid PC gamers make up about 41% of that install base, so they don't count. And then you have the casual gamers who play poker and ish. So, about 54% play on Live, give or take. That's great. But do you think that will be significant enough for gamers. Especially considering as how the episodic content might very well be like 2 more missions? Moreover, due to price, the PS3/XBOX 360 communities don't really overlap as much as they once did. So, if you have a 360, you'll get it regardless and the same with PS3. My point is...the DLC isn't really relevant for..well...anyone, so it seemed as though Microsoft was "reaching" when they thought that that would attract new consumers to not only the game, but to their system itself. GTAIV is a system seller, but if you like Xbox, you'll get the one on Xbox and if you like PS3, you'll get that one regardless of two measly episodic missions.

Here's what Reeves had to say about it.

3. Woah, I though a minute ago we tacitly agreed that insults were bad. :o
Anyways, with Crysis, the video card alone might cost $600 and up. Since I'm not sure if Alan Wake is requiring something over a Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent, I can't comment on that. But in terms of CPU costs, what I'm saying is you can combat that with selling your s**t. like, a 2.7 GHZ process costs about $540 retail, which is around what you need for Crysis. An AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ CPu is $320 dollars retail. That's more than enough for Crysis. Core 2 Quad Q6600, which is a top of the line, is around $851. But that's top of the line. And, like I said, you only need a tri or maybe even a dual. With all the s**t that you can sell...the costs aren't so bad. But no..I'm probably not going to get Alan Wake because I'm still waiting for Max Payne 3. I loved those games.

Don't pass on Alan Wake because you want Max Payne 3. That's like passing on The Chronicles of Riddick because you want Enclave 2 (might be a little obscure for you, but Riddick = awesome FPS where Enclave was a pretty good Fantasy game) Maybe instead I should say "passing on Zelda: Ocarina of Time because you want a sequel to Mario 64." There you go.

Alan Wake is an awesome title in it's own right and in comparison to Max Payne, it's concept is already a lot better than "revenge story 1,626,382 but now we have slow-motion".

But Max Payne's story was so sick though. I love film noir.

I'm a big fan of Max Payne, especially Max Payne 1 and it's "Whack da sucka" mobsters, but really, Alan Wake is just a better idea. It's smarter work, and as a fan of Max Payne, I'm respecting Remedy's work on this MORE than I would another Max Payne.

We get a lot of sequels in this industry. As a top developer, Remedy shouldn't be pidgeonholed into making Max Payne again and again. Let them excersize their new ideas.

Hey, you may find yourself liking Alan Wake so much that when Max Payne 3 is in production, you'll be saying "I won't get this because I'm waiting for Alan Wake 2".

Easily the best post in this whole god forsaken thread. I love that movie.

It's definitely not the best post. It doesn't have enough shooting or slow-motion.

It's okay. The Omega Man and The Planet of the Apes is infinitely more interesting than anything this thread previously had to offer.

Phaser's "I will kill everyone" approach to discussion is a LOT better than Charlton Heston kissing a person in Ape makeup. Sorry.

i dare you to tell me that everything in that image is blurry.

Thats also an image that doesn't support your theory of realistic blurring because those soldiers wouldn't be in focus if the shooter was logically focusing on his target in the distance. Also the gun would probably be in double vision because anything your not focusing on near your face tends to split into two images because your eyes aren't focused on it. :o

And the screen should go black to simulate blinking.

Killzone 2 = extremely unrealistic.

We do need a Max Payne 3, even though Stranglehold will be awesome.

You kinda hit on what I was going to say.

Stranglehold is the Asian Max Payne.

Hehehe, thus destroying and bankrupting Remedy because no one buys Max Payne 3. ****, who bought the second one?

Max Payne 2 didn't sell as well as the first, but it sold respectably for a PC game. However, Remedy isn't the publisher of Max Payne (3D Realms owns the rights and Take 2 publishes) so Max Payne 3 falling flat would just make Remedy look bad, not bankrupt them.
