Homecoming Does the Venom spinoff have a connection with the MCU?(Theory)

I recently answered a question regarding the contractual obligations between Marvel and Sony and after reading the information again, it got me thinking...

Is it possible that Venom could be an extension of the MCU??

And after serious thought, I think it could be.

?

If Sony is chasing the Logan vibe, Venom won't tie into the MCU. If they're going for a hard PG-13 or R movie, that likely won't gel with the light-hearted vibe of the MCU. I can only assume that Sony is preparing for something like a Venom vs. Carnage film with plenty of brutality.

Of course if they are really chasing the Logan style they'd still have it related. Logan was a pretty focused movie, but one that relies on the films that came before. It was a great sendoff for that incarnation of the character, because it acknowledged it was that incarnation of Wolverine being retired.

I just don't know how well this will turn out. Creating a Venom movie where you basically can't even acknowledge the existence of Spider-Man or his connection to Venom.

But we're talking about Arad. Why do things that make sense? Honestly the worry after Deadpool was that someone would just stupidly make a rated R comic book movie without understanding what made that movie work. Logan knew what it needed to be and it worked. But who knows if Venom will be as lucky. It may be the unfortunate example of getting it wrong and presuming that comic book movie + rated R = big money.

Depending on the route they go to take you could do a Venom without Spider-Man, you'd just have to downplay or omit the spider-powers and the fact that his costume looks like Spidey's. Which begs the question of why you'd want to make a Venom film, but hey, Hollywood loves chasing trends.

How can studio execs consistently be this freaking stupid?!

The guy in charge at Sony is the same dumbass who caused all that trouble at Fox for years back when he was in charge there. For more info, watch this excellent video:

Yup. The reason the original Deadpool teaser (the one that helped the movie get made) ends with Deadpool waving to the camera and saying "Hi, Tom!" is as a middle finger to him, since he fought against Deadpool being made for years.

In this case the trend is Fan4tastic.

The utter and sheer stupidity is just incomprehensible to me, smh.

Why can't they just co-operate willingly with Feige??? Why don't they just add him into MCU instead of making everything so confusing???

These suits are ******s.

There are plenty of great Venom stories that can be told without Spidey, but his origin can't be properly told without Spidey. I'm more than willing to
give a Venom solo a chance since it couldn't be worse than the Blowpher version, but starting off on the wrong foot won't exactly inspire confidence in the pre-existing fanbase.

We don't know what plans Marvel Studio has for Venom, if any. Not only is the symbiote currently on a different host than Brock (Lee Price) in the comics, but the recent appearances of "Venom" on the animated shows have had the symbiote on Harry Osborn and as a replicating army powerful enough to immobilize both Thor and Hulk. It's impossible to say what either studio has in store right now.

I'm also unconvinced that a Venom solo actually gets made. Until I hear that they're actually shooting, it's just wishful thinking.

It does, actually. Anyone remember the title of the track "My Bastard Son" from the Thor soundtrack? That's what VENMO ENTOR TEH DARKNOSS will be to the MCU.

I'm all for calling the new sony universe "Sony's Unnecessary Cinematic Kingdom", short S.U.C.K.

Its probably for the best if this movie just sucks bad, resembles Brock venom as we know him very little, and tanks at the box office.

Then the character would be reintroduced in the MCU.

You're assuming they're strictly honoring the source material. It absolutely could be done without Spider-Man or at best, showing Spider-Man in flashbacks. If it really is an R-rated sci-fi horror film, it might not even have one main host, jumping from person to person instead. Think The Thing.

It should be a vague connection at least, like the ABC and Netflix shows.

Don't include the spin off films in the overall narrative of the Phases, but still set them in the MCU.
