It's funny how all the people on here said they'd love SR no matter what, and now they are turning on it.

I complained at first but I changed my mind, and knew I'd have to see it anyway, and knew I'd come out liking something, he's Superman my childhood hero.

I loved the whole movie. But all people here know how to do is cut everything down, and be negative.

Routh and Kate did not look too young, they really did look good, the suit actually looked very cool, very classic.:supes:

The whole thing was moving, it felt like the first movie but yet more like the comics, and was a nice tribute to Chris and what came before.

The score is beautiful, I bought it myself yesterday.

There was nothing wrong with this movie, sure the kid is weird but people didn't like when in the comics Lois and Clark got married, now there's this, that just might happen in the comics soon.

Spacey finally brought Lex to life, he was nothing like cheesy stupid Hackman, Spacey is Luthor.

People are just upset 'cause they were under some delusion that Zod or Brainiac was going to pop up and didn't.

They always go with the arch villian for the first, and this is the first after so many years, it needed to be Lex, do I want to see a supervillian and a super fight, YES, but this was just right to reintroduce Superman to the world.

Routh was awesome, he sounded like Reeve, and looked a bit like him, but more like the comic book IMO.

Very good movie, I'll be seeing it alot.

It is funny how some of the singer lovers are calling this movie a failure because it didnt make the money they wanted

What money? Its been out for a grand total of 5 DAYS!

i admitt i hated it wheni first saw but it was due to no sleep or food so i was tired.... but when i saw it again lastnight i fell in love with it and felt so much more emotion for the film and characters... i still dont like bosworth but ill give her another chance in the next film :)

btw we need more Kent and less luther

I saw it for a second time last night (free passes too because during my first viewing, the sound levels were way off and everything was ten times louder then it should have been, plus there were two rows of hormonoal annoying teenagers who wouldn't shut the **** up all throughout the movie) And it was a much more enjoyable experience and I came away liking a lot of parts of the film, but they were all scattered.

The only thing I REALLY liked was Jimmy. BEST JIMMY EVER. However my original gripes still remain true. I'm just not a fan of Singer's interpretation of Superman. The suit, the actor, the overall designs notwithstanding, I can't stand it when directors or comic writers turn Superman into a literal Christ figure by inserting fifty allusions and imagery to Jesus. Superman can be seen as a messianic figure by himself, he doesn't need to be depicted in the crucifixion pose, stabbed in the abdomen, and both listen to and deliver new testament dialogue all throughout the movie. Just my two cents.

Just think of Superman 3 and 4 and then think of how much better this movie is than them. And be thankful it's nothing like those others, heck it's better than part II also, no more cheese.

Spacey is Lex plain and simple. Routh made me believe again. Kate as Lois was perfect, she wasn't a moron , even though I wish they hadn't had done that stupid thing about her not knowing how to spell again, even though it was a quick nod to the old films, still they needed to keep that out, but she's so much better than Kidder who is ugly and gross and was so annoying, yuck!, Kate is how Lois should be, smart and strong and cute aswell, I don't think she looked too young after all.

It is funny how the Singer fans are just mad that it didn't make the money they thought, and it has only been a few days.

Those of us who are being negative - are being negative not just for the sake of being negative - or for the sake of hating Superman.

We are being negative because we saw great potential for an epic modern Superman film and were greatly disappointed in wasted potential that just feels like a shame.

Seeing SR was like seeing an old friend that used to be the best...but is now crippled or sick. You just feel sorry for him and wish that things would have been different and you want to help, but you can't because it's totally out of your control.

True. We don't even know the weekend # just yet.

Well at least you're not saying "maybe it's all smallville's fault or it was sabbotaged by the wellingites." or any number of bs projected onto some dissatisfied fans. I'm one of them and thouh there are parts I liked like jimmy eating the burrito, I left feeling something was way off with this movie. Just feeling it. I didn't dwell on it like it's going to change my life if this movie worked for me or not...

So in my mind this hokey story of superman's just not to my liking and I can't suddenly join the praise party, no.

Sorry for the hard words, but you ****HEADS have tottally DEhyped me!!!!!!!! All of this BS that the movie doesn't deliever and that the pacing is off. It's too long, the kid thing doesn't work, it lacks action, the plot isn't strong enough, the credits were underwhelming, the CG isn't that impressive, Spacey is too campy... Any more I need to stress you freaken fanboy *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me, what the **** did you expect from this movie to be exact!!??? You're so freaken IMPOSSIBLE to satisfy!! This movie has left its share of blood on the floor, before it ever got of the ground... At least Singer has made it with passion and love, and doesn't only see the dollar signs! You guys can ***** all you want, but I'll just BET, regardless of what I feel now, that when I see this film, I'll be screaming for more, cause I still have all the faith in the world that this movie will leave me breathless! Sad that it didn't satisfy you other guys, but too ****ing bad!!!!!! Go see King-Kong or X3 For brainless action, you freaken psycho fanboys!

It's not the lack of action that Im upset with, I was fine with that all along. I enjoy character driven films. But where was it? Where was the story? This film was supposed to be rich with it, yet the plot didn't flow nicely and all in all it was lame.

Is this the official Superman shill thread?

If the movie was good, I'd support it. Granted it wasn't terrible, but it's just not in the same class with the best Superhero movies like Spier-Man 2 and Batman Begins.

Bryan Singer is a pop director. He made in HIS OWN WORDS "the most heterosexual film I have ever directed (...) Superman Returns is a chick flick"

We don't want brainless action, neither do we want Superman tarnished with uneccessary plodding or dramaless drama. We wanted an epic Superman film and we deserve one after all these decades. Plenty of Superman comics have already delivered in regard to what could be been simply great.

Superman Birthright, Superman for all Seasons, Lex Luthor: Man of Steel -> read those and get back to us if you don't think they are any good and that SR should have taken inspiration from them rather than retread a 30 year old movie.

Dramaless Drama. That fits this movie like a glove!!!

Despite being a Supes fan, nowhere did I ever say I'd like this movie just because it has "Superman" in the title. I'm sick of this elitist fanboy way of thinking that if you don't like something, such as say, the Star Wars prequels, then you therefore aren't a "true" fan of the material. I'm not saying that's your attitude mind you, but I've seen it here quite a few times over the past few days and I'm getting sick of it.

That being said, I had my doubts and worries for the film for a long time, but about a month before its release I was official excited. Bought my 10PM showing tickets two weeks early and was ready to go Tuesday night. Walking out of that theatre, I was extremely let down and disappointed. My friends have asked me what I thought; I told them I didn't care for it in the least and my advice was for them to save their money.

If you liked it, more power to you. But personally, I won't be seeing it again. I guess the positive side to all this is I save $20 when the DVD comes out.

hehe wow you're a fickle one, no offense. well I wouldn't recommend seeing it but if you must, go ahead. Some fx are good and the dogs are cute.. No I wasn't satisfied with the "OMfG intense!11 action scene with a waterfall drop, omg will they make it? is superman dead?" No that didn't do it for me... I won't target sr for anything brainless although there are some things I thought could be classified like that... anyway... I thought king kong was crap. X3 was less crap but still crap too so I don't think I'd actually watch them again.

I loved Superman Returns and would never turn my back on the Man of Steel.

However having said that, I must admit that it is kinda annoying that Singer doesn't use the comic books for research...I mean c'mon, Christopher Nolan isn't that much of a comic reader either, but he still did the homework.

Superman Birthright= Crap on a stick nothing even remotely interesting except the part where he was in africa, everything was nauseating.

Superman for all Season= Sure if you like shy naive, Superpussy instead of Superman, fine. I puked when I read the comic

Lex Luthor: Man of Steel= haven't read it yet, don't plan to I hate the art work. Bermejo fits Batman but his Superman looks horrid.

I'll take the Donner movie over the above drivel, thank you. Superman was perfect exactly how he should be, gentle, confident, intelligent, inspirational the origin has never been done better.

As for the comics, Bronze Age is the only way to go, not Superclown from the Silver Age and not Superpussy from Post-Crisis. Gimme the Superman from "For the Man who has Everything" and "What happened to the Man of Tomorrow" andyday over "Birthtrite" and "Man of Stool".

Super bomb.

Superman's kid killed the film.

Now they will have to write that brat into future sequels.

Singer has done much more than Lex Luthor could have ever done to make sure he buried Superman.

Good riddance.

Well duh they're gonna have to write him into future sequels...HE'S SUPERMANS SON! But who says that the movies will revolve around him? I mean if you think about it, the entire father/son conflict is pretty much resolved in SR...if they never touch upon the kid aspect again, it'll be all good.

IMO, the kid angle was self-contained and by the end of the movie reached a certain level of closure that you DON'T need to see what happens with Jason.

We know that Superman will be there for him and we know that Superman knows he has a son. What else is there to explore? These are SUPERMAN movies.

Plus Jason by Superman IV (right?) will be only about 7-8 years old...still not much to expand upon.

He didn't do it for X-men either. When he did the X-men films he only watched the 90's animated series.

Wish he would have watched Superman : The Animated Series as well!!!!

Wow Nait22 you were sooo..sure this movie would do well ect ect.....

Now you are all bent out of shape about it because people are simply voicing opinion.

I saw the movie and liked it but felt this movie pays far too much homage to Donners films, and Superman would have been better off with a fresh start.

Not a Burton esqu His suit is in can kinda start....just fresh...

Go ahead retell a bit change a bit of what Donner had don..recast Jor el... perhaps even go with a new vilain to be sent into the phantom Zone instead of Zod and his cronies

But no.... we got this
