Noticed there wasn't a thread for this yet, so I thought I'd set one up for you guys!

Details:

Re-mastered for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, DOOM 3 and it’s expansion pack offer enhanced visuals further immersing you in the demonic world like never before. DOOM 3, Resurrection of Evil, and ‘The Lost Mission’ have been optimized in 3D, featuring 5.1 surround sound, Xbox 360 Achievements, PlayStation 3 trophies, improved rendering and lighting, and a new check point save system allowing for smoother progression through the game. id Software has fine-tuned the controls to bring the intensity of the DOOM single and multiplayer experience to the consoles, and DOOM 3 now features the new armor-mounted flashlight, allowing players to illuminate dark corners and blast enemies at the same time.

DOOM 3 BFG Edition will also include the original DOOM and DOOM 2 games, making it the definitive collection of the genre-defining games developed by id Software, the pioneers of the first-person shooter genre.

Cool, i remember playing a little of Doom 3 for pc, it recembled Half-Life, but darker and more violent, can anybody tell me if it's worth to play again? It was kind of a reboot of the original Doom game but i remember some people on the net hating it.

I wouldn't say I hated it, but I found it to be really boring and generally sub-par.

I thought Quake IV was a much better game overall and fairly underrated.

I figured "re-mastering" would have meant improved lighting/increasing character poly counts. The video makes it look like they simply ported it.

I totally agree with you. Doom 3, as stated earlier, tried to be like Half-Life at some points and System Shock 2 at others, but ended up just feeling like an overly linear claustrophobic game. Not in the good way that Half-Life and System Shock managed.

Apparently it had something to do with their lighting engine forcing them to have much smaller environments, so they made the player move like a sloth to make the game longer.

I wasn't expecting Doom 3 to one-up the first two Quake games, which were their own masterpieces, so I wasn't expecting any rocket-jumping or fast paced, thrilling gunfights. I don't even think many of the enemies have guns. But Quake 4, while being a much better game than Doom 3, left me feeling more disappointed. I know Raven doesn't make the best shooters, but I was expecting the game to be a faster-paced, more mechanics-centric shooter. Instead it basically felt like Doom 3 with more action.

I always preferred Quake to Doom, but it seems like they are just barely re-skinned versions of each other now.

Hmm. If I can get the mod where I can just ATTACH THE FREAKING FLASHLIGHT TO THE GUNS I might get it for PC.

the flashlight is attached to your armor this time

curious to know why they left out ultimate doom, as it was on the original game disc along with doom 1&2

I found Doom 3 pretty boring and generic overall, with a couole cool moments and nice graphics for it's time. I might buy BFG edition just to see how it holds up today and if the add-on and the lost mission are any good. Plus can't go wrong with Doom 1 and 2.

Half-Life was supposed to be claustrophobic? I like it, but it don't really find it scary, Doom 3 is in fact scarier because of the lightning

oh hell yeah! first time i hear about this and i am excited :woot:

Aside from graphics I was really let down by Doom 3, especially after the leaked Alpha build which I actually found superior to the released version.

Can't wait to return to the world of Doom! I always check out Id's games even though the more recent Quake Wars and Wolfenstein weren't the greatest to come out of Id. (Although they did not develop either). I see this as set up for people to get reacquainted with Doom before Doom 4. ;)
