Bethesda Doom Eternal

Ammo is scarce but I don't have much trouble. The chainsaw is a great weapon and deaths with it gives lots of supplies needed but I mostly rely on the classic shotgun, grenade launcher and glory kills

Just finished chapter 2, got all collectibles and then played 5 rounds in battlemode. Overall I'm having a good time. Anyone care exchange PSN tags for some future battlemode rounds?

Chainsaw is mandatory in this game. it is your reload which is why it regenerates. If you hoard fuel to take out larger enemies, you're gonna have a bad time (at least on the harder difficulties)
I much preferred the handling of the weapons wheel for DOOM 2016 and how you switched to BFG and Chainsaw that way.

Got a little further into it. Not far because ironically the more "free time" I have the less I have to actually use it on stuff I want to do. Got the first chapter done and that's been about it.

I’ve always loved the Doom shotgun. :cwink:

I’ve had that happen to me before too lol. Had 2 weeks off at home a few years ago to do some leisure things and I got less done than I normally do in a weekend. I’m not getting any more time now though as working from home takes even longer than working in the office.

Same, it’s just so wonderfully over the top. I’m glad they didn’t bother with giving you a pistol or something
Haha, yeah. I’ve done 2 old Doom playthroughs using only shotgun and then only chainsaw.

Blasting demons with the shotgun is endless fun in any doom game. The animations and sounds is just perfect

Yep, and it looks like it’s just getting better with the recent games. Long may it continue!

So far I find the combat shotgun to the best weapon. It does good damage by default, and the sticky bomb gives you AOE damage. I'm always switching to it.

I also got all but 2 MP trophies with some boosting. The MP in this game is so goddamn fast and insane.

Glad to hear about the shotgun as it’s one of my favourites.

Well I'm on chapter 11, that's out of 12 isn't it? It's been a crazy ride for sure. The lore itself is quite interesting as well. Really made themselves a rich universe. The series has come a long way from just being about a space marine fighting hell itself. Granted that is what the core gameplay is still, but with those codex pages and some chapters you get more if you look closely.

I've also watched collectible guides on YouTube during every level so I've left nothing bebind. Very curious as to what future DLC will be.

Also how goddamn beautiful is it to see actual cheat codes back in a game and NOT hinder any progression? They only can't be used in Slayer Gates which aren't all that hard anyway once you know how to handle certain demons.

Also **** the Marauder.

I must admit, I love seeing the floppy disks.

yeah the mauraders were too much I think. I wasted so much ammo and time just taking out one and I was playing on easy. I saw someone on the Doom social media ask if they could include a cheat that takes them out or something or makes them optional so I’m not the only one that just found them annoying

This game might have my favorite last boss in any game of recent memory. They took the fight with the Icon of Sin from Doom 2 which was essentially just a wall texture and cranked that **** up to 100.

Something I'm not a big fan of in the franchise is the platforming and problem solving. It's creative and fun at times and so I don't mind them but they aren't among my favorite parts of the games and especially not in this game!

I actually like that platforming in this game. The "rules" are clearly defined and the segments are challenging without being cheap. Reminded me a lot of Metroid Prime, but it solved the games like Prime and Mirror's Edge with it's "get close enough" philosophy. Gives the game quieter moments that aren't just walking to the next arena.

I don’t mind them but I did find the challenges a bit boring. I skipped them til the end

I just got to the first Marauder...and that's me done with this game. That is without a doubt the most poorly balanced sadistic ill conceived encounter I've experienced in a long time. And the "tutorial" video is a ****ing joke. Tells me to keep him at midrange and shows me a video of a one on one fight with the marauder in an empty room then proceeds to spawn multiple enemies and a ****ing hellhound to mob me and it repeatedly obscures a chunk of the screen with a stupid bite animation. I was going to keep at it, but I checked reddit and these marauders appear multiple times in each successive level. **** that.
