Doom Patrol Doom Patrol TV Show Greenlit

I enjoyed the first episode as well. Granted its sometimes hard to tell how good a show is just from one episode, but I can tell you now that I definitely want to see more. The characters are all really interesting in their own ways, especially Brendan Fraiser's character and Matt Bomer's character. I am loving the overall vibe of it so far and while I'll admit that the some of the more hardcore adult content is a bit unnecessary for some reason its not bothering me nearly as much as it did with Titans which I also enjoyed, but felt way too try hard with that stuff IMO.

I find the complaints about adult content strange. Not just regarding this show, I've seen it a lot in other threads about other shows over the years. Even read someone on here complaining that there was nudity in the show The Deuce...which is about the birth of the porn industry.:dry::hehe:

Just can't relate to the prudishness.

Finally watching the first episode. Damn it's good.

Interesting pilot, I dig the bibe of the show but I have to see where the story goes. Curious where Cyborg plays into this though.

Probably going to have to wait till its on Netflix here in the UK but after their first appearance im honestly looking even more forward to this than I was Titans.

Can somebody please help me how come in the Pilot no one aged from the 1940's to 2019 especially the Chief???????????????????

lol did you missed the fact that its a Show with SuperPowered beeings or dealing with them ? i m not familar with the comics or else but does that matter

Yeah I was also puzzled by everyones lack of aging.. but chaulked it up to "superheros". Can anybody more familar with the source material explain it? Or is it just one of those accept it and move on things?

Well yeah I could write that off as Superpowerd beings yeah but then it still doesnt explain the Chief because he is not???

Yes I was wondering about that as well.

I'm assuming it's a plot point of the show. Just because someone has powers doesn't mean they don't age. Especially every member of the team.

The age thing doesn’t matter to me. I’m just assuming because they got powers, they don’t age.

Sorta like Captain America and Wolverine

Is there a reason why a Robotman who is like Robocop, would age like normal humans ? Larry Trainor (Negative man) is basically charged with negative energy, which has his conscience and he can leave his body (like a Ghost) and at times can enter a new host body, so it's not unusual that he looks young. Dr. Niles Caulder has in comics experimented with his mortal body / cloned him several times, so him having a long life span is no surprise.

Elasti-woman's (Rita) is like Clay face from Batman comics, so she doesn't age. As for Dr. Niles Caulder is one of the brilliant Scientists in DC comics (other are Prof. Ivo, T .O. Morrow, Dr. Silas Stone and Dr. Hamilton) so he might have discovered some thing to get longevity.

A stellar second episode. The plot is unwinding slowly but I’m not complaining when the characters are handled this well. I never saw JL, so this was my first time seeing a live action Cyborg and he was great.

I'm loving this show. Brendan Fraser and Diane Guerrero are great.

And Crazy Jane?
She dont age either?
Ok but 2 others things.
1.She was there since the 70s she tells Robot man she's been there way before him but we dont she her anytime and she doesnt even meet him that until 2019???
2.She is in the Park smoking Weed n creating a disturbance and the Cops approach her and Totally ignore n make no response or gesture or comment to the Robotman standing there????
Just small Plot holes here n there.

Another great episode, we get a talking cockroach and a portal within a donkey....this series continues to impress me. Please move these writers over to Titans.

I want the amount of passion and care in Doom Patrol to be translated to every DC property from now on. This show is the best thing DC has done imo.

It is for sure the best DC show out at the moment. Cyborg annoys the hell outta me but I wasnt even that bothered by him in this.

Reminds me of this

actually

They are certainly similar though Legends has become more corny comedy then quirky and almost all the characters have become a parody of themselves.

Legends doesn’t have the emotional depth of Doom Patrol, not in the slightest bit. And the production values aren’t as good either. DP is in a different ballgame imo

You'd be surprised apparently. I only saw the midseason finale "crossover" and I feel like I missed out on so much for the first time.

100% The best tv show but, I don’t know, I think it rivals some of the best DC movies within the last 15 years.

I don't think anyone was talking about Robotman with the aging thing, and your explanations for everyone else is fine as far as fan speculation goes but it would make sense for them eventually to say something in the show about it. Especially the non-powered Chief. And what about Jane? Does one of her personalities have the power to slow down her aging? Maybe...but right now it's just speculation.
