It screams "badass, morally questionable counterpart to Captain Marvel" to me, which is good.regwec said:I've always preferred Adam to Captain Marvel. He could do with a suit redesign, though. Black leotard and gaudy flash symbol doesn't really scream "superhuman middle eastern dictator", to me.

The Question said:Well, I like to dress characters down when it fits the characters. There are plenty of characters for whome wearing a decorative costume makes sense. Spider-Man was about 16 when he got his powers, and you'd expect a 16 year old super hero to wear a flashy costume. Superman is quite powerful, and doesn't need his costume to be overly practical. Batman's suit, although I personally would change the color scheme a bit, is meant for psychological warfare. In the dark, he looks like a huge bat. Other characters, like Bullseye and Hawkeye, don't really seem like the types of people who would wear costumes like that. So, I would have to problem in tweaking their looks or dressing them down to fit that.
How does it not work with Hawkeye? He's a superhero who's happy living the superhero lifestyle. Furthermore, he was a circus performer before becoming a super-criminal and, later, a superhero. Seems like Hawkeye's one of the characters for whom having a costume makes most sense. As for the costume itself, the colors are a bit awkward, but I've always liked his costume. He could switch back to his Thunderbolts costume (the one with the blue sleeves) instead of the sleeveless one he had for a while, but overall his costume's just classic and recognizable. The Question said:Why. I don't mind the gaudy costumes one bit, if it fits with the character. With Superman, it works. With Spiderman, it works With Hawkeye, not so much. Not saying he shouldn't wear a costume at all. Just saying, his look needs a redesign. It's not that big a deal, but I would rather like to see it happen.
But... the lightning bolt is the central element.regwec said:I would argue for a simple aesthetic change- remove the lighning strike. Adam had the pointy ears, the black leotard, the golden boots and the belt to identify him. The symbol seems like a bit of clutter to me.
