Really looking forward to this. Dragon Age: Inquisition is one of my favorite games of all time. I wish this was a direct adaptation of that (or at least featured those characters) but the lore is strong enough that an original story set in Thedas could be great too. I loved what Netflix did with Castlevania, so I’m stoked for this.

Dragon Age Absolution is a Netflix show "authentic to" the lore

Yeah I didn’t really care for the game DD so I didn’t bother watching the show but as I understand it, it has nothing to do with the game lol.

Set to air Dec 9 (next week). Looks similar to Vox Maxhina, only more serious and intense.

Oh nice! Didn’t realize it was coming out so soon. My girl Ashly Burch (Mythic Quest, Horizon, Tiny Tina) is voicing the main character so I’m definitely excited.

I had no idea there was a show for this! Awesome, fantasy shows are making progress.

Seriously. This, Vox Machina, and the Redwall series (coming out soon).
I'm in animated fantasy heaven!

And BTW, I think animation is the appropriate medium for fantasy. Live action is just
not convincing enough (eg.I found myself distracted by the wigs the Targeryans were
wearing in "House of Dragon"). I'm pretty much done with live action fantasy.

I'm certainly not done with live action fantasy lol, but I also welcome all the animated fantasy films and shows they can give us. Thanks for mentioning the other 2, also had no idea they were being made either.

I’m mostly the opposite in that I’m much more into live action than animation… BUT I will take a good animated adaptation over a bad live action one any day. Also, it’s good to see someone else around here who couldn’t take HOTD seriously with all of that horrid wig work. :funny:

I saw it this past weekend. Its kind of a poor man's Vox Machina, and overall its a fun ride. The animation, music and voice acting are all top notch. The first 5 episodes are very strong, fast paced and exciting. The ending/last episode, however, is a hot mess. You basically have two characters monologuing about "what actually happened in the first 5 episodes". Incredibly boring and just terrible story telling. So I give the first 5 episodes an 8/10, the last episode a 5/10, for an overall score 7/10. Definitely a series worth watching and following in the future.

I’ve seen the first three episodes; will probably finish it tonight. I really like it overall so far. The voice acting and characters are great, although since the story is set in Tevinter, I would have liked for Dorian to show up and play a major role. Still, the new characters are fun and I like that in true Dragon Age fashion, the story is very progressive with a queer love story front and center and a main character dealing with PTSD from traumatic racism and slavery. And I like that the story directly follows the events of Inquisition and references it. Was pretty shocked when
Fairbanks turned out to be a bad guy! Not sure how I feel about that, since he was pretty heroic in the game.

Also, it feels like kind of a meta joke that Ashly Burch is voicing the 7-foot qunari character since she’s pint-sized in real life. :funny:

Following up on this… didn’t mind the twist at the end, especially since it makes some other things make sense (which initially felt contradictory to what happened in the last game). I liked it overall and I hope they do a second season. If not, well, at least this was a fun interlude while fans await Dreadwolf.

It’s still a bit disappointing that we didn’t get a single appearance by Dorian. I know they wanted to establish the new characters and that’s fine but Dorian would have fit so perfectly here. Hopefully if there is a second season, he’ll show up.
