Dressing Your Age

I was wearing this the other day.

When I'm at work, I dress pretty professional but when I "clock" out it's t-shirts.

See shirts like that are cool.

But if I see someone out in a Thundercats or just some other garish looking T I would have to laugh in their face.

I kinda believe in "subtle" geekiness.

Unless you were a fellow geek, most people would only probably recognize the Batman one.

says you, she'll be off with smartly dressed funny guy who isn't always half way across the world giving some conference.

Haha, I've bought him the majority of his nerd t-shirts :woot:

Haven't worn one in about 2 years. And I've grown a lot since then so Idk how I'd look now.

You look very nice in a suit

You need to suit up and mingle lapdog style...

Love it

Part of Spoons' problem is where he lives...there's pretty much no opportunity to dress up since he doesn't have to for work. When people go out to bars there, they wear t-shirt and jeans. It KILLS ME!!! :csad:

don't be afraid to break the mould, i always dress moderately smarter than the average folk.

it may not need to be the full hog but a well tailored shirt open neck with a good watch, grey trousers and nice shoes and you automatically look the business.

ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE FEW DOING IT.

ps, pickles is tshirting you so you don't find any other womens, soon she'll be carbing you up to the eyeballs till you're fat and then it's no escape....

See it's the subtle geekiness that gets me, it's too elitist.

The bats one is dreary, i presume the second one has to do with snake eyes or something and the nightwing one just doesn't work on a fashion sense.

beside, looking at general fit, none of those t-shirts really do anything for the male physique are do nothing to promote one's body shape.

i don't even know what the first one is. Now if i was to meet you in the street, i'll feel bad for not 'getting' your message and make it seem like you've 1upped me.

I do encourage him when he dresses up more...looks very nice when he does so. He just loves his gym clothes, lol.

I like comfy clothes, but I never even owned a pair of sweats until I got to college and needed some "bum clothes" for my dorm or the gym. I LOVE dressing up. Now that I'm graduated I can't wait to own a closet full of women's suits and even more dresses than I already have :oldrazz:

nothing better than a lady in corporate chic, hair tied up and some glasses.

heck even a 80s power suit meg ryan style...

What happen to dressing like yourself? Being yourself. That's the most important thing in the world when it comes to being presentable to others.

unless you make your own clothes, there's no such thing as dressing as yourself.

I think "dressing your age" is only a real concern in two situations:

1. If you're in a specific situation or environment that calls for "mature" clothing choices, ie: the workplace, a formal dinner, etc.

2. If the clothing in question is revealing or sexy in a way obviously aimed at younger people.

The first is self-explanatory, the second is quite a bit more subjective. There are a lot of cougars out there who are indeed in very good shape, but that still doesn't mean that they should dress like Christina Aguilera in her pre-mommy days.

I'm a T-Shirt and jeans type of guy and proud of it. I'll almost always wear a sweater or button down shirt to work, but usually with jeans and my running shoes. I work in advertising, which is no longer "Mad Men" so there's no real dress code, unless we have clients to meet with. I generally tend to go to sports bars on the weekend, you'll never catch up in an upscale club with a dress code, I like to feel comfortable and a suit is not comfortable. I can clean up well when the occasion calls for it, but I'm not seeking those opportunities out. If I'm out with my friends I'm usually wearing a funny t-shirt or a long sleeve shirt I got from a race and jeans, I'm comfortable with who I am, not gonna put on a fashion show and be someone I'm not.

********.

Look not everyone is a extremely formal tuxedo at the night club guy. Some people just would look damn silly. :o
as for dressing like yourself the big fat cats sit in their office and have models of their chosen demographic for their products, and market them so you feel like you're an individual but we're all treated the same.

now i'm not saying dressing down completley is bad but there are levels of dressing down.

a t-shirt is never enough but the logo ones make one think its alright because you want to show the logo and it all gets a bit meh...

I see that SO MUCH :csad: It's frustrating to see, because those women would look beautiful and still sexy if they'd wear something classier and more age appropriate. Wearing clothes meant for a 16 year old makes them look silly.

Right now I have on Jeans, a Batman shirt, a green track jacket that says Chevelle on the side, and converse...do I dress nice?

I love the t-shirt cardigan combo with a nice pair of skinny jeans. Comfort!

Honestly though, I'm a million times more comfortable in jeans then I am in sweats

I'm like Barney from How I Met Your Mother. I prefer to suit up!
