Daredevil Drew Goddard is the Showrunner Thread

I haven't seen any of his work but I've heard good things about him, and its good that he's a fan of the source material unlike a certain someone in charge of another marvel property *cough* josh trank *cough*

Well, he directed The Cabin in the Woods, which pretty much earns him a spot for life on my cool list.

I haven't seen his work, but, from what I have heard, he is a friend of Whedon, one of the most important writer of his team, and a fan of the character, so it's a good sign.

He wrote and directed Cabin in the woods which was basically a love letter to it's genre and he grew up with "I'll show him a Man without fear is a man without hope." plastered on his wall. Also wrote my favorite Angel season 5 episodes, so I'm sold on him.

I love Drew Goddard. He's probably my favorite Whedonverse writing alum, as he either wrote or co-wrote pretty much all of my favorite episodes of Buffy's final season, episodes which are right up there as some of my favorite Whedonverse episodes ever. He also wrote some of the best episodes of Lost's 3rd season. And of course there's Cabin in the Woods. Goddard is honestly the main reason I'm looking forward to this the most out of all the superhero shows on their way. I've been waiting years for him to run his own show.

I went into Cabin in the Woods not even having seen a trailer, just heard good buzz and I was completely blown away by it.

It gives me confidence that this will transcend the quality that Agents of S*** has set and perhaps in combination with Netflix he's the man to overcome the meddling of Loeb and whatever other incompetent showrunners have compromised the first televised effort.

The only thing of his I've seen is Cabin in the woods which I loved.Read a few interviews with him and it seems like he loves DD.Can't wait for this:woot:

Do you guys think he'll actually be writing and directing all of the episodes?
Almost any show I see seems to have a rotating cast of writers and directors.

I'm sure he'll have a writing team and some rotating directors. That's pretty standard. He's worked with a lot people from the Whedonverse and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot stable, so I'd be surprised if some of them weren't brought on board here.

Would be cool if they brought on Brian K. Vaughan, as he's worked with both Goddard and Joss Whedon and of course has Marvel ties. Though honestly, at this point, I kind of want to see Vaughan running his own show as well.

Maybe Vaughan could show run one of the other four projects then?

Doesn't BKV co-run the horrible Under the Dome? I like his episodes of Lost, but I'm not sure if TV is his thing.

I just checked, and you're right. I didn't know that. Bummer, I really liked his work on Lost, and of course his work in comics.

BKV is involved with that? That's crazy. I still think that man is God. Wow, I had no idea.

Wow the man who gave us Saga works on Under the Dome? That's a real shame.

It's tough to be a show runner though. Just because he's on the show it might not mean it's exactly his vision

So, apparently he's writing and directing the Sinister Six movie too?

I'm pretty sure this one is the priority.

Well, yeah, this one's filming in July, so it's a little further along than the Sinister Six project, and I'm sure his work on DD will be done before Sinister Six gets off the ground. Still, I hope this doesn't nix his availability for a second season of DD, because I have far greater interest in DD than in the Sinister Six.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that his work on the first season will be easily done before he jumps on directing "the Sinister Six".

But, like you, I fear for the second season. I don't know what they have in mind for the "Sinister Six", but I'm so much more interested in Daredevil...

I don't know what Marvel have in mind, because, knowing their Relationship with Sony (which are pretty great), I can't see them letting Drew Goddard directing "the Sinister Six" without having something in mind

Have they stated about the longevity about these shows anyway? I'm just curious about whether or not these Netflix series can go as long as they want or if it's more like a one-off, things might change depending on whether it'll be a success but it's a curious thing that Goddard can do Sinister Six if it doesn't clash with Daredevil, sure Sinister might be a few years off but it could also mean that Daredevil and the rest are never meant to be a long-time commiment, just my two cents.

I mean if the first season is sucessful and Goddard isn't avaliable they'll just hire another showrunner. It's not like they halted the Captain America or Thor sequels just because the original directors didn't come back. I'm sure the same applies here.
