Dumb & Dumber 2-Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Return

Who is suppose to play the daughter? She looks like Emma Stone but I read that
Jennifer Lawrence
as cast. But if that's the case could this be a bait and switch?

I read that JLaw is the younger version of Kathleen Turner's character.

That trailer was pretty bad.

That was my first thought. I felt like the camera work was a little awkward and showed too much of their age... which didn't help matters they kept inferring that it had been 20 yrs since they last hung out. It just seems it's going the modern comedy route which is having little or no interest in a cohesive story just a bunch of random gags poorly strung together. I have a feeling this thing won't touch the original.

The tv look doesn't bother me too much right now. Surely they might have some post-production work ahead.

Yikes. I just saw the trailer and only laughed once. I didn't think it would be as funny as the first, but expected a decent sequel. This looks straight up awful.

It's a first trailer. Maybe their hiding the best stuff. Happened with 22 Jump Street. Those trailers were just ok but that movie was hilarious.

trailer showed the exact same characters and the same type of humor.

why is it so hard for SHH members to understand that they were 20 years or 10 years younger when they first saw the movie. they were different people and the movie was realesed in a different time. some still dont understand what happened with Indiana Jones 4 in 2008.

Usually with comedies I don't care about the cinematography, but wow, the look here is so flat. Even Modern Family looks more 'rich' looking with its cinematography. I know the film's DOP is old (in his 70's) so i'll give him some slack but at least stick to film; digital aint' cutting it for him.

I'll be honest, I was a massive Jim Carrey fan growing up but Dumb and Dumber was probably my least favourite film of his. I did get a chuckle out of this trailer though, but still doesn't look that great.

That doesn't cover the fact this looks timid as hell. The tone of this trailer couldn't be more removed from the original even if it had been 30 years. This thing has "should have been shot 10 years ago" all over it.

This is the same awful, flawed argument people use when they want to defend Phantom Menace or Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as some misunderstood works of art. No, sorry, it's not because we "grew up" or our tastes changed. Give people some credit. We're smart enough to know a crappy film when we see one. The sad truth is it didn't look great from the trailer.

I hope that we're just overanalyzing the trailer (which was a mixed bag) and the final product might end up being good.

But what many have said here, the Farelly Brothers have sucked..sucked for the past decade.

Yea, pretty ****ing disappointing to be honest. The first is a classic, it was funny then... and it's funny now.

I think i'll just stick to re-watching that one every now and then.

its the same type of humor and both characters act and talk the same. only the story and cinematography can be bad. which has to do with script and budget .

IMO

Looks terrible. Just a retread of the first movie. Nothing original here.

I'm hoping the rehashed jokes are just in the trailer and the whole movie isn't like that. I can see why the marketing people would put it in the trailer in order drum up nostalgia.

Look, we can all agree that the trailer was pretty disappointing but that doesn't mean the movie is doomed. Timing and context are such huge factors in comedy and a badly cut trailer like this one steamrolls right through both.

If anything, I'm glad the trailer set expectations back to reality. More opportunity to pleasantly surprised.

Bingo. A well-placed nostalgia moment within the movie can be nice, put one after another in a trailer in highlight reel fashion it makes the movie look like it's trying too hard. Which it might be, but we'll have to see.
