Dumb & Dumber 2-Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Return

I can't get over the 20 year joke Lloyd pulled on Harry LMAO.

I gotta admit something. I think it's a fantastic joke that also works for the characters, but when I read it a couple of months ago from the early screenings, I imagined it funnier in my head. The way Harry explains it takes some of the fun, but it might just be an editing issue.
It also works for the next great line "love what you've done with the place", that after 20 years looks the same.

I just realized that Harry still refers Mary as Mary Samsonite :funny:

I have to admit Harry referring to Mary as Mary sampsonite was a great little bit of continuity. After 20 years you could say it's understandable that the writers may forget nuggets of information like that but that actually made me laugh more than anything else in the trailer. And it's because it was not slap sticky. It was simply clever

I think it looks solid.

DUMB AND DUMBER worked because of Carrey and Daniels. The writing, the humor wasn't exactly "groundbreaking". But they owned those roles. If they do that here, it'll work.

Some of the jokes in the trailer like the "Am I right?!" "Ami I right?!" THAT's INSANE"
didn't do it for me

Neither did the "Uh yup" part after Lloyd admits he was faking being insane.

It feels like Jim Carrey's not even trying or he's not as innovative as he was before.

Even "Yes Man" was good IMO. Lot's of funny moments in that

I'm telling you, don't worry.
That's raw footage. With a little color/tone - correction in post production, it will look better:

I don't think so, to be honest. Dunno why they wouldn't color correct any piece of footage in a trailer. I think the way it is in the trailer is just what it's going to be.

So has the possible plot twist been discussed yet? I'm rewatching the original right now and I'm shaking my head at how grasping-at-straws the plot seems.

What do you mean? If anything, it adds to the comedy if it's "grasping at straws"...

Yeah comedy can easily work with a thin plot. Look at 22 Jump Street for example. Or Anchorman or The Hangover (at it's core they have wafer thin plots).

I'd argue The Hangover has a much better thought and planned plot. Sure, is just one long gag, but there's some craftmanship involved in making a mystery plot involving comedy.

You mean the rather obvious twist that Harry's "daughter" is actually Lloyd's?

It is kind of obvious when you listen to the Freida *****er's dialogue in the first movie, so the daughter being Lloyd's is probably the most obvious one, so I'm hoping for another 'dumb' twist.

I was thinking about the "plot twist" and I thought it would be funny if one of them didn't need a kidney at all, but another organ, or that they confused organs or something like that. But I can totally see the daughter not being from neither of them too. So, I don't know.

I agree with these. It doesn't seem like they have the same chemistry they had in the first movie. Their back and forth delivery at the beginning of the trailer was not good at all.

Ha! Yeah, that was a good joke. It's a quotable line just like in the first one.

Screening tomorrow in hollywood, gonna try to make it if i get off work early enough. Although everything will be embargoed, ill give a quick yay or nay. Yay if its worthy of its existence and nay for anything else and an utter disappointment.

There were so many recycled jokes from the first movie in that trailer.
