Dumb & Dumber 2-Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Return

I doubt this was expensive to make, so it'll certainly make its money back.

The original is certainly a beloved movie, but I guess my "concern" is how well that will actually translate to box office for the sequel. I'm sure it will do fine, but I don't think it will be a monster hit. I think it will be heavily front-loaded with a great opening weekend, though. My guess is that most people who don't see it opening weekend will wait for DVD/Redbox.

The movie faces strong competition the week after with Hunger Games. So the first week is very important.

It's already facing enough competition as is with Interstellar and Big Hero 6.

Different audiences.

Remember when Sherlock Holmes opened a week after Avatar? Did either really suffer? No.

People will see a movie if they want to see a movie. It doesn't matter what's coming out the week before or after. Especially in this case when the movies mentioned won't draw the same audience. Its biggest competition will come from another comedy like Horrible Bosses 2 not Interstellar, Big Hero 6 or Hunger Games.

The budget might be bigger than we think, simply because of Carrey's salary. That's probably $25 million right there. If it were a $100 million movie, that's 75 left over to pay for everything else. (Look at me doing math!)

Granted, maybe the fact that Carrey's star has fallen considerably over the past decade caused him to take quite a pay cut.

The entire budget is $35 million.

By the way, world premiere right now.

Oh God, I laughed so goddamn much with the asian bit. It was classic Lloyd.

Just watched some clips and man, this has a lot of great dialogue.

"I'm Dr. Christmas. I'm with him."

"Christmas like the holiday?"

*chuckles* "No, like the tree."

Care to make a friendly wager on that?

I would be down for a wager. Look at the competition, Interstellar this week (Nov 7th) then this movie comes out next Friday (Nov 14th). Then the following Friday Hunger Games comes out, and then Horrible Bosses 2 comes out after that. This movie won't totally bomb but I don't see it staying in the top five at the box office past the first weekend.

I disagree. People will probably go see Hunger Games, Big Hero 6, and Horrible Bosses 2 over this movie regardless of the genre. I just don't see this movie being a huge hit with the competition and the fact that it's 20 years later.

I'm seeing this the day after tomorrow and there's not one single review in Rotten Tomatoes yet. Weird, I thought it had some very positive reactions.

Yeah, its not a good sign if there's an embargo on reviews until the day of release...

There's a good reason for that. As one of the few who saw it months ago, I can tell you that score will be pretty damn low. So keep your expectations on that same level.

A large portion of critics didn't even like the original, so their opinion on this one means nothing to me.

A majority of fan reaction to the movie so far has been mostly pretty positive. I'll be watching the movie tonight and I'll see for myself. Been waiting years for this one.

Cam Neely just said on boston radio show he's back during credits as Seabass

I liked the first and it's pretty much them doing the shtick decades later, so you kinda know what you're getting. I'm checking it out tomorrow night regardless.

I just think comedies in general are the hardest movies to review, since comedy is so incredibly subjective for each person.

I'll probably see it sometime, but I'm not in a rush to. I'm not even that excited for it, to be honest.

Secret cameo that isn't J-Law

Well... I just came back.
As a fan of the original I can certainly say I'm not disappointed. At all. I LAUGHED A LOT during this. Forget the critics, this movie isn't for them, just like the original wasn't either. The theater was packed, laughing, and clapping during specific scenes. Is just a very fun movie, with great gags, Jim Carrey in top, top form and while is not as good as the first one, they tried hard and the movie works. Lots of easter eggs and call backs to D&D with enough new stuff. It's a lot of fun, guys.

Watched it tonight. Really fun and enjoyable. It's not the original, but it's also sure as hell not the prequel. Only real complaints would be the pacing and occasional over-acting. Could have had a stronger ending. The gross-out humor was there too, but I didn't mind it too much. Movie has lots of funny moments,one-liners,etc. The funniest part in the movie I'd say didn't even involve Harry or Llyod.
