DDL will spend the next five years in the Mojave Desert eating cinnamon to get into the role.

Man, I know DDL has retired from acting to become a puppeteer or whatever but if there was ever ONE big franchise film series I could see him being a part of, it's this one.

Hehe.
I would say he also needs to spend time in a lush and watery place flying planes and living in a castle ( Caladan style ).
DDL would make a good Duke I'm sure.

I want DDL to take part in something like this movie Dune. He's undoubtely one of the best actors of all time, may arguably be the best. But it's a shame that he's not popular worldwide.

Speaking of which, if this movie perform as expected, can it reach 1 billion ?

I doubt it will reach a billion but who knows, I'm not even sure it does half of that.

Of course is DDL popular. He won 3 Oscars in the leading category, which only Jack Nicholson has achieved before.
It's more like DDL was always picky when it comes to projects. He'll never star in a movie, where he needs to act in front of a green screen most of the time and also not in a project which includes more then one movie

This movie will hit many audiences if done right. DDL (who could play either Duke Leto or a sandworm) will bring in the Oscar bait crowd. Batista and maybe if they get someone cool to be Duncan Idaho or Gurney will bring in the MCU crowd. Rebecca Ferguson will bring in the single lady crowd, and Chalamet will bring in the theatre geeks.

The way this cast is shaping up, watch it be ****ing DiCaprio.

DiCaprio would be an interesting Duncan Idaho. I know he's old now, but he's got that babyface that doesn't age that much.

Eh so far they seem to be casting more character actors than A-list huge stars like DiCaprio, especially for a supporting role.

Well technically Duncan is a major role in the franchise...it will be interesting to see if Denis builds up the character accordingly. The first novel really doesn't prepare you for that future.
But for the love of Shai-Hulud please keep Dicaprio away.

DiCaprio could mocap a Guild Navigator :)
Wild thought ....what about him as Count Fenring ? ( that will never be but still... )

I don't know how to feel about Dune being remade. On the one hand, remakes and I usually don't get along, on the other hand I would love to see this series take flight.

Yeah, that would be like not wanting another Lord of the Rings after the Bakshi debacle. Dune deserves a proper adaptation.

The main reason I want this to succeed is I want Dune Messiah and Children of Dune to get proper film adaptations, LOL! Dune deserves a better movie, no doubt. But I am more excited to see Dune Messiah in particular.

As much as I have a soft spot for Lynch's movie, it was not a good adaptation of the book and the TV series even being more faithful was cheap, the costumes and sets were not very good and the acting was weak.

The Lynch movie was to Dune what the Del Toro Hellboy was to Hellboy.
I Love the Lynch version for its scope and style. Having read the book I agree it was not very faithful. To be fair, adapting Dune cannot be easy. It has to be one of the most multilayered and immersive sci fi series ever written. I really hope the new movie will be done well, and not just Phantom Hoped

As the credo says : hope clouds judgment. There will never be a Messiah or Children movies. It is already a chance we got a new adaptation of Dune.

No doubt it is a small miracle this is happening. But I shall not give up hope these are possible!!! I wear my blue lantern ring proudly :o

if the first movie is successful, then they will milk the cow and make adapt every story possible. hell there will be a lord of the ring series without existing stories

Then again, who knows, maybe Dune will have an "Avatar effect" and sequels will be made.
I'm just a practical man who is already glad it is adapted by a director who is also a fan of the material.
