Looks like a solid choice.
is the book worth reading ? I'm wavering between waiting for the film and reading the book.
Read the book. It’s a science fiction classic for a reason.
Thank you for thatIt is one of the best Sci-Fi books ever. Probably one of the best of any genre, IMO. Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune are amazing.
What's really unpolished - work of Joe Walker the editor. He makes movies hard to watch.Yeah....right.... /facepalm
Just found out that Dune had a 1984 adaptation. Guess I'm gonna watch this before reading the book.
Stellan Skarsgård to Play Villain in Legendary's 'Dune'
Skarsgård will play one of the villains of the piece, Baron Harkonnen, whose family previously ruled Arrakis and has a long hatred of the Atreides family, plotting with the galactic emperor to destroy it. He is also the uncle to the brutish character to be played by Bautista.

Lol that’s exactly what’s making me wavering. I 100% believe in Villeneuve’s talent to pull this off, so I just cant decide to wait for the film or read the book. No, don't, for the love of god, don't. The 1984 movie has a small number of positive qualities, but is otherwise not good. The book is arguably the best science fiction novel ever written. You only get to experience this story for the first time once.

I would say read the book. The 1984 film gets some of the basic structure right, but it changes how the weirding way works almost entirely. But, the 1984 movie has some nice art direction (especially for the time). It's an okay (at best) film while the book is a masterpiece.

Yeah, he'll probably just wear a fat suit like Gary Oldman did in Darkest Hour. It will look real enough. Or maybe he'll go Full Bale and gain all the weight naturally, lol.
Stellan was REALLY creepy in David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo film. So I have no doubt that he can pull off the villainy of the Baron.
