Hey.
So, just as in the rest of the world, rap and hiphop are popular in Holland. The most popular right now is a duo called The Opposites. Consisting of a tall white dude, and a small black dude. They are really hitting it big right now. Last week I went to their performance and the place was packed with people who knew all of their lyrics by heart. Now, what I'm wondering is how this music sounds to foreign ears. I am aware that Dutch, to foreigners, sounds like gurgling. :p

So, if you have a bit of time listen to the track to which I will post a link at the bottom of this post, and post your thought. I'm extremely curious.

I don't really care for rap but without listening to this track I will assume it's better than Russian rap lolz.

I remember some years ago as a joke, a friend told me to look up someone named Ill Mitch. Horrible...just absolutely horrible.

Nice beat, crunk rap.

But I don't consider it Hop Hop.

**** gets annoying, after awhile.

I don't like the beat or their flow. On the other hand, Zero_Valut's "native" rap that he posted was much, much smoother. I like rap that sounds like it belongs on the streets and not in the club. Those Dutch guys are totally club, crunk, rap. Not my style.

Pretty good, whats he rapping about? The beat was catchy.

Here's the kind of "native" rap I listen to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPMD79xu-CA

Like this one better, what are they rapping about?

Thing is, for me, if I'm to listen to rap, it's about the lyrics, so even it is fun to see how foreign languages sound in rap, kinda futile if I don't get their message.

Oh, since I'm learning Spanish, could people link me up to the best of Spanish rap, be it American, Spanish, Chilean, wtv.

Probably should start a international rap thread the way this is going... Too lazy though.

a...a tall guy, and a short guy? They stole my idea for a buddy cop movie...bastards!

There's black people everywhere.

Except Orange County.

I haven't seen many black Chinese people.... Then again I haven't seen any white Chinese people... Is China that homogeneous?

Ik dacht dat het een track van jou was. Trouwens vergeet je Opgezwolle niet als populairste rap groep?
