Hey guys. When I first got a DVD player back in the late 90's, my first DVD was Batman '89; shortly thereafter I got Batman Returns (at one point, I owned BF and B&R but they're long gone). Anyway, I'm finally thinking of double dipping on the first two films and buying the two disc special editions. Question is, is there really a big difference in film quality? I know about all the special features and whatnot, but the only thing that will make me double-dip is a substantially superior transfer. So to anyone who's seen both, is there a difference?

You don't have a Blu-ray player, right? I'm assuming not, but of course, if you do, get the first 2 on that format. As for the 2005 DVDs, yes, I think they are pretty big improvements in terms of transfer. The 5.1 mixes are excellent, particularly on Returns. I mean, they naturally look and sound better as they go along, but Returns sticks out the most to me. I would say it's worth an upgrade.
