I think that Microsoft deserved that grade. Their showing this year is so much better over last years, Microsoft introduced some cool features like YouTube, Bing, UFC, and Live TV, and they showed off some core and casual games for Kinect.

Kinect Star Wars, Disneyland Adventures, and overall lack of excitement kinda dragged down the conference, but Microsoft did what they needed to do.

But as mentioned, all of these features are entirely unnecessary. All MS would need to do is add a browser and the need for half of them would be obsolete. Stuff like Live TV and UFC aren't really necessary if you, y'know...have a TV.

As for the casual Kinect games, even if MS is targeting the right audience (and I'm still not convinced that it is not too late for MS to win over the casual audience this generation), their games were unresponsive, glitchy, and frankly unimpressive.

I'd rank them at BEST a C - (and that's only if you're a hardcore Halo fan). Otherwise it is a D. No one in the gaming media will say as much as they don't want to piss off MS and get locked out from press coverage, but it wasn't a good conference.

HALO 4 FTW.

Excited that 343 is working on a trilogy instead of just one installment.

All of that Kinect stuff was boring as Hell though.

You mean like last year when they all gave MS an F?

MS's conference wasnt as bad as you think.

Looks 80 times better than Oblivion.

Ehh....conference was okay, I guess. Too much Kinect (for ****'s sakes, Kudo...take the goddamned shades off. You're indoors, so that's a signla that it's time to take them off. Wasn't even brightly lit, either...).

Forza 4 looked nice, great use of Kanye. Gears 3. Halo 4. MW3 looked good too. And Tomb Raider was impressive.

Ghost Recon looked interesting from what I could catch glimpses of. I guess it was cool that I could build up guns with my voice and hands. I guess...

Especially if you're introducing the lamest games of the entire conference.

Eh, my wallet and girlfriend would give the Microsoft conference an A+. Didn't see anything that really wowed me, I was planning on getting Gears 3 and Ghost Recon already, nothing else really stood out. The voice stuff was interesting, cool that you could command people in Mass Effect (although it was already done in Endwar), the conversation stuff was pointless though. Kinect still was one glaring flaw, everything looks like it's on rails, no exploration which sucks, I want to take my character through the game world, not just be pulled along.

Since it's launch I don't think it has actually had a single stand out game or done anything amazing beyond a first impression. At the press confrence , they seem to be jumping around saying "you can do this, we can do this, we can do this, it will change the future gaming" but it basically amounts to a bunch of lame wii rip-off titles and gimmicky crap like the Mass Effect 3 voice thing 5 people will use.

I'm fine with Kinect. I don't need to buy it. But a year later, the input delay still looks tremendous. They need to fix that.

Did they just mention controller combined with Kinect? That's what I've wanted all along.

Why give Shepard a voice at all? Having a mute like Dragon Age would make more sense with kinect.

Its a bit late to be complaining about Shepard talking.
