I disagree. No money should be paid to players. They get hundreds of thousands (if not millions) in terms of exposure and free education, room, board and books.
The NCAA is corrupt anyway, they really don't have the students best interest at heart so they need to stop acting like they do.

That, I couldn't agree more with, but I'm a University of Miami fan and we've always distrusted the NCAA haha.
Thats not completely true. They may get hundreds or thousands AFTER school and only if they make it big in their prospective sport, but during school most of them, even the "superstars" live like every other college student. Iv been lucky enough to know a few top teir D1 athletes and they certainly aren't living like millionaires. Now I guess if you are talking about the players who receive "illegal" benefits then yea that's a possibility.
I do tend to agree with your assessment that a free education is enough payment. I mean some of these schools are REALLY expensive.
I don't think so either, thats why I said post collegiate when they aren't students anymore. It's just an idea but if something like the NCAA Game is made and Came Newton is in the game but not really him just #1 for Auburn and the money from that game goes to Auburn why shouldn't he get some sort of stipend from that game? The NCAA enforces rules but its the players that they fan buys the game for so why shouldn't they get financial retribution?
These are all things players get for FREE in addition to their education. IMO, student athletes are OVER-compensated.
Well, aside from all that I've said in my above post that NCAA athletes already receive in compensation, I don't believe that their likenesses are being used.
This is Johnny Manziel:

No resemblance. Or am I supposed to believe that Johnny Manziel owns the number 2 and is entitled to compensation any time that a Texas A&M player wears the number 2? Having Quarterback # 2 is not the same as using his "likeness," IMO.
Based on what some of them bring to their universities, you can argue they are greatly under compensated. But I guess u could almost say that about any profession.
Agreed 100%. When the lawsuit was first announced my first thought was that it was just a washed up failed NFL player trying to get some money another way. I still feel them claiming EA used their likeness is a stretch.
How close are Johnny Manziel's stats in game and in RL? Likeness in sports doesn't just boil down to looks.
I was unaware that in real life players have skills determined by a numbered slider.![]()
Those emails seem pretty damning.
No, you misunderstand me. I'm not saying they live like millionaires. But they do get free room, board (dorm housing and meal plan, but still housing and meals that others have to pay for) and exposure on AT LEAST regional television once a week (even D2 and D3 schools are televised locally).
Furthermore, student athletes get free clothing, headwear, shoes, etc. Not just jerseys, I am talking polo shirts, golf shirts, T-shirts, hoodies, etc. Stuff that usually costs $30-$100 in the university book stores. All free. They also get some gear like bags, water bottles, etc. They also receive free book stipends. University books usually run $300-500 per semester.
Plus just about every school has an athletic alumni association that opens doors for graduates that would not be open to non-athletes. So even those who don't make it to the next level, get certain perks.

They are its ridiculous. I had one of the highest averages in my department and yeah I got a few scholarships but nothing what the athletes get. All for what just playing a stupid sport. Makes me a little angry.
