Damn I was thinking of seeing this thing... I am gonna have to pass... Lakeview Terrace... Miracle at St. Anna... too many average films these days....

It was a good movie. Just got back from seeing it in IMAX. Its a fun flick with good action. Nothing mind blowing.

AWESOME movie. It was a lot of fun, great action, frantic pacing and some good acting. Shia did well as usual. I think I liked it more than Disturbia...which is saying a lot considering I really liked Disturbia.

lol. I keep telling people not to take these internet reviews so seriously...and people really need to lay off Shia. The movies that he stars in have little to do with him as an actor and no, most of his movies have been well received by the general public. That's a fact!

But anyway, sure, the movie was a little run-of-the-mill and borrows many elements of sci-fi and action adventure films of the past decades and even way back into Kubrick territory, but as with Disturbia's modern uptake on Rear Window, DJ Caruso has a certain directing style that really gives this movie a certain vibrant, realistic, and ominous tone. I liked it. Worth watching once, or it could make an awesome rental. 7/10.

BTW, this movie just reinforces why Shia is soo good right now. He's one of the best young actors in Hollywood today. People may not like his movies, his acting style, his voice, his personality, or whatever, but, what he does, he's great at it and it sets him apart from the rest.

It wasn't horrible, but the big first twist was kind of...bleh.

I like Shia in pretty much everything he's done, and im glad to see him start acting more Mature in his movies.

I have two complaints.
1. The kiss at the end was lame
2. The fact that the person with the detonator/crystal was dependent on the random buyer of the Trumpet. Sort of poor-work on the writers part. :down

Let me guess... Shia was actually working for the CIA or whatever faction Billy Bob Thorton's character is a part of?

I'm still seeing this, I like Shia and Monaghan, so this should be at least "fun."

I just got back from seeing it. I couldn't believe that, myself included, there were only six people in the theatre. Even for the theatre in my town, which isn't normally extremely busy, that's weird. Anyways, I thought it was a good movie. It was, more or less, what I was expecting: a great popcorn action movie. Shia was great in the movie. He's great a being very likable, and it makes you really root for him.

I'd give it an 8/10.

I just got back and the action scenes are wow.

especially the scenes of Jerry Escaping and the whole train scene and car chase sequence. And the Fighter Plane going into the tunnel and the part of him dressed as a cop to save everyone in the white house. I was on the edge of my seat And i really never am.

Again the randomized accomplice who is dependent on the buyer of the trumpet was lazy on the writers part.

So what's the verdict?

Should I rent this or see it in the theatre?

It does look fairly average but that doesn't stop me from watching a film, I'm not that picky.

I am just waiting for Body of Lies at this point... although American Gangster disappointed me last year... the Fall movies always seem to be meh... nothing really memorable. Even going back to the Departed a couple of years ago which was overrated IMO. Just too many average films this time of year that ain't worth the money... that said I still might check this out.

Saw this a few hours ago. Really enjoyed this flick. I like the way the director set the tone for the film and the performances were really great, especially Shia's. I was rooting for him the whole time. 8/10.

Just got back....got to see it in IMAX and I really enjoyed it. As stated it's a non stop ride, with very few dull moments. Both Shia and Monaghan are good as is Billy Bob. I would definitely suggest seeing it in theaters.

For those asking, the movie was good. But I still found those two flaws to be big on my count but I also over analyze films.

After a compelling start, the motivation and actual antagonist behind the events that are set up is just silly and disappointing. The concept isn't even fresh nor is it something I wanted to see. Think Michael Bay groan inducing and poorly filmed car chases mixed with the movie "War Games." The action scenes were choppy, nauseating and filmed with far too many zooms. Also, the ending gives new meaning to the word implausible.

4/10

Killer artificial intelligence takes over and takes steps to eliminate the leadership structure of the United States through the most asinine way possible. Why not just hijack and launch a Cruise Missile or something else from the military? The only way to accomplish this task was to use a kid’s trumpet??? I usually don't over-think action flicks but come on. Also, one guard on duty to protect access to a State of the Union speech? More groans then amazement for me.

4 out of 10? That seems low. Surely it's purpose was to be a good ol' fashioned popcorn thriller with a lot of nonsensical fluff and action. I mean, with a 4/10, where do the truly awful movies end up?

Heck, even a movie as bad as Stephen King's The Langoliers wouldn't get lower than a 3/10 from ME and Eagle Eye is twice as good in every way.

But, to each's his own! That's just how I rate. I start with the worst movies I've ever seen and use that at a 0/10 and work my way up, comparing it to whatever I see.
