I just don't get who really though bringing in a 45 year old *****e with a nose ring and extremely limited ring (and mic) skills to win the RR and headline WM was a good idea.

I'm crushed about Punk...I hope it's a work, but I don't think so. (What a work it would be, though!) He's without question my favorite guy to watch over the last several years...to this day, I enjoy his work even more than I do Bryan's (and I think Bryan is tremendous). Punk and I have very different viewpoints on life...but that has never affected my appreciation of his talent. I thoroughly enjoy his ringwork and he's clearly one of the best promos in the biz. If this is really it for him in WWE, he'll definitely be missed. The Hall of Fame awaits!

I marked out when I saw this

Not surprised about Punk walking out. Never wanted him to, Punk's my main dude, but he's a go getter and he's simply not being utilized right. He works his butt off. The guy's made history. His Vegas pipebomb, historic championship reign, his great Cena feud and spotlight stealing Taker streak match. But enough's enough. WWE is simply not delivering for him as a talent and not delivering for me as a fan either. So I can see his frustration.

Check out this recent interview with Punk:

Watch it and him walking out should come as no surprise. The guy's just unenthused. He's took enough of the company's BS. He's proved himself 10 times over to everyone.

is it just me or is Punk coming off a little differently compared to past interviews

You right he does look very unenthused, I mentioned the same thing last night when I posted the video

The story on CM Punk:

Former WWE and World champion CM Punk has been pulled from all advertising of WWE live events going forward after a meeting with WWE management yesterday at the Raw taping in Cleveland, Ohio.

We have been working on details for the last 24 hours (as Dave Scherer and I noted on our respective Elite audios earlier today), but the belief among those who are willing to talk about the situation is that Punk is no longer factored into company plans. Punk is under contract to WWE through July.

Punk was slated to face Triple H at Wrestlemania 30. This past Monday's Raw instead began teasing Daniel Bryan vs. HHH down the line, possibly for Wrestlemania.

We have heard from several sources that the original script for yesterday's Raw called for Punk to wrestle Antonio Cesaro and lose after Kane interfered, allowing Cesaro to qualify for the Elimination Chamber. It should be noted that another source has denied that and claimed that Punk was never booked to wrestle last night and was only booked to do a promo that would follow up on Kane causing Punk's elimination from the Rumble. But, Punk was originally slated to be on Raw and those segments were yanked. He was not backstage during the taping and was not backstage at Smackdown.

It is believed that when Vince McMahon had the writers re-write Raw late yesterday (6 PM for a taping that was scheduled to start at 7:45 PM), it was because Punk had informed the company he was going home and wouldn't be back.

While we cannot 100% confirm why, the belief among wrestlers backstage is that Punk leaving was not an injury issue. It was described to us as more likely a case of burnout and unhappiness with the overall direction of the company. Punk had been very vocal in the past about the usage of returning and "part time" stars being pushed beyond wrestlers who were working full-time for the company.

In his interview with Ariel Helwani last week, Punk talked about the crazy schedule he's held up working for the company over the last decade. Punk said that he's been doing it ten years and doesn't know anyone else who can say that. He said that he's only taken time off for injuries and that when he took two months off in 2013, it may not have been long enough.

Punk, who worked about 50 minutes in the Royal Rumble match was described as "pissy" after the PPV, although that wouldn't be an unusual description of Punk's demeanor backstage.

One source believed that since Punk's last goal was to work a Wrestlemania main event, it may also be a situation where Punk realized it wasn't going to happen this year and with his WWE deal expiring in July, that may have weighed down upon him because he was so goal driven and this was one he couldn't accomplish because of elements that were outside of his control.

In the interview with Helwani, Punk was asked about WWE killing his momentum at times and why such things happen. Punk responded that he'd like to think they don't make those decisions on purpose and it's more they wanted to go in another decision. He claimed it's a different era and different time and it can't be looked at the same way he did when he was a kid.

Yesterday, Punk wrote on Twitter, "Thanks for all the support. Keep being you guys, it's pretty cool."

Depending on how you read the statement, it could be taken as a cryptic farewell.

We'll obviously update more as we confirm additional details.

Part of me wonders if this could be part of an angle, but I doubt it. Hopefully something is worked out. Otherwise, it's been, Punk.

I'll be waiting on the shoot or podcast with Austin. Well, it looks he at least told the company instead of just walking out without warning.

Maybe he was told he would lose to Triple H at Wrestlemania, or that he's facing Kane at Wrestlemania.

I really hope this is a work. It ties into the storyline of Triple H keeping him out of main event and this isn't the first time Punk went meta. If not I will be completely soured on the product. It's too depressing and I'll end up hating Batista whether he deserves it or not. It either a brilliant work or WWE truly sucks. I couldn't blame Punk for leaving though. I'd be pissed.

If it's not an angle, I hope his good friend John Cena can talk him out of leaving. I'm not ready to see Punk go yet.

and holy ****!!

Punk walked out??!! for real??!!

and he was supposed to win the RR??!! :cmad:

i'm done with wrestling. i was actually gonna get wwe network.

Longest reigning WWE Champion of the modern era.

Never headlined a Wrestlemania.

Lost it to a part timer that did nothing with it.

Was planned to win the Rumble and headline Mania.

Lost it to a returning guy nobody gives a damn about in the first place.

Shoved into a lackluster predictable angle with Kane.

No respect. You ****ed up WWE...again.

Who needs a popular guy, who works day in and day out, when you can have a 45 year old guy with a movie coming out who gets gassed easily. Right guys? Right? Right? Right?..........

WWE logic. :o

I really don't blame Punk for walking out if this is for real.

Reason number 1721 not to like Matt Hardy:

Matt Hardy & Reby Sky Arrested After Bloody Brawl With Each Other

TMZ.com reports that Matt Hardy and his wife Reby Sky were arrested at a motel in Virginia earlier this month after a bloody domestic brawl.

A hotel staffer called 911 and said, “A guest just came down here and said somebody’s beating the hell out of his wife a girl or something.”

When cops arrived to the scene, both Matt and Sky were arrested for assault and battery. They were released on $3,500 bail.

Matt and Sky got restraining orders against each other.

Part of me is thinking (hoping) this is just a work, but the majority takes it as being legit. I could see Vince and Haitch trying to smooth things over, so I don't necessarily believe this is the end for Punk in the E.

I can buy the reports saying that main eventing Mania was the only real thing left on his checklist, so seeing as though it is unlikely now given it seemed that he was going to be in it, a reason for him throwing the towel in. It also seems as though he may be using the situation similar to how he did back in 2011. With his contract winding down he is using the opportunity to once again try and make one last protest for change on the way out.

You could tell over the past year, bar some exceptions (i.e. against Lesnar and the Shield guys) that he didn't seem to really be in it, but still was professional enough to put on good shows.

Punk wore a Stone Cold shirt during his infamous pipe bomb.

Now Punk is "taking his ball and going home" much like Stone Cold.

This could be a great work but given WWE s track record it's doubtful.

Oh, Matt. I thought you had turned your life around.......

shakes head.

More: http://www.prowrestling.net/artman/publish/WWE/article10035553.shtml

I was at Punk's Portland Comic Con and I didn't feel the need to relay the information until he departed from WWE. There are two key parts of his Q&A that stand out in retrospect.

1. He was very upset about Batista getting the WrestleMania main event, which pretty much spoiled the Royal Rumble. He clarified he was friends with "Dave" and that "they" would not be happy, but he wanted to be honest and it was Daniel Bryan's year. Actually, he said Bryan Danielson but corrected quickly.

2. He was very disinterested in the current product. Asked about promos he defeatedly made comments like "I show up. Someone tells me what to do and I just go out do it and leave." He implied his recent work was not good and was down to only using two moves a match.

Punk was very nice, engaged, and happy with his fans but in regards to wrestling and WWE he was definitely despondent and unhappy.

Powell's POV: Punk has been down on WWE and his own performances for months now, so this is very consistent with what he has been telling friends. Punk's frustration over Batista getting the WrestleMania main event is no surprise, as he was initially critical of The Rock getting WrestleMania main events as well. And, well, he's not blind in the sense that many of us felt that Bryan winning the Rumble and going on to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30 was the obvious move to make.

I doubt this is a work but you never know. I don't blame punk leaving if true he like a lot of us are sick and tired of all the olde r guys from the past coming back and winning titles or winning the royal rumble. Wwe needs to wake up they can't rely on cena forever and they can't bring all these guys back and give them titles right away. They need to start developing more talent if they want people to continue to watch their product.

. However since there's no competition these days it doesn't look like wwe would take a step in that direction
