Hello,

I've been a longtime poster here and I try to be respectable and obey all rules that I can. However, I have recently lost my job. I am married with two young children and we have very little money set aside for these types of situations and we're desperate to gather up what we can. I've decided to put up a large amount of my comic book collection (500) on ebay, along with my Lord of the Rings TV Guides.

I know posting things like links to Ebay on here is not allowed, but I'm hoping that the mods can overlook this one occasion as it is for a good purpose... basically, putting food on my table for my family. If you want to delete this thread then I understand and I won't argue, but please reconsider. Thank you very much.

JH

I grabbed a couple.

Sorry to hear about the situation, really hope this helps, and that this thread is kept open.

Can't really help you out there, man, but I hope your situation improves.
Hang in there.

actually, you probably should have offered some of these before listing them on ebay so you wouldn't owe seller fees. Although, how much are seller fees about?

Just a couple bucks per auction so I don't mind. I think the most expensive one was $2.15 or so. Most were under $2. I did offer them to some people I know fairly well before posting them (sold a few things), but I figured people wouldn't trust me enough to give me their money on my word that I'd send them their comics, so I just posted them on ebay so that I'd sell them sooner with less hassle.

I need to post some stuff myself soon

I also think they take a percentage of what you sell, but it's never been enough that I've been effected by it, so keep that in mind.

I might check out some of those when I get home JH.Sorry about the job:(

That sucks having to sell your comic's dude.

Sorry to hear the bad news JH. I recently had to switch jobs myself, and know how stressful the whole process is. Don't worry, depending on your field and location, the job market is pretty good out there. Hang in there.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I have a large collection and these are maybe only a faction of what I own, but they're special to me and it was a hard choice, but family comes first. I've been meaning to weed out my collection anyhow, just could never get myself to do it. If I have too much trouble finding a job then I may have to dig into the stuff that is more important to me, but I'm hoping not. I'm about to head out now to go job hunting again, and I have an interview set up for tomorrow that I'm really hoping for... Installing Satelites. Turns out a friend of mine has an interview there too so that could turn out pretty cool. They pay more than any of my previous jobs so that's a plus and I'd get a company van to drive to and from the jobs, so it works out well. So far that's the only promising thing that's come up so far.

Best of luck, JH. I really hope things pick up for you soon. When they do, I hope you'll let us know.

Jeez... I went to applie at a few places today and one of them is a moving place. Well, it requires a valid drivers liscence, which is fine... save one thing. My liscence EXPIRED a month ago and I didn't even realize it! I was thinking I had another year!!! Well, I'm going to have to figure out a way to get those renewed this week. Another thing added to the pot of annoyances.

Well, the interview I have set up for tomorrow requires a liscense as well... so let's hope that they're understanding.

Try going to your state web site. I know on mine you can do things like liscense and registration. you obviously won't be able to have your picture ID, but showing up with the completed paperwork is certainly better than nothing. Poke around the AAA website, it might be helpful also.

I hope there's some stuff I want. I'd love to help out....and get new comics.

JH, I'd really like to help out, i looked over on your eBay thread and there are definitely a couple of things i'd go for - unfortunately I live in the UK!

are you certain you can't post overseas? I have no idea how much that would cost you but if you think it'd be manageable, let me know :)

I wouldn't mind shipping overseas but I have no idea what to charge for shipping and I have no idea how the exchange rate works.

Looks like there's about a day left on the auctions. Giving this a bump for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Using paypal you can still bid. The exchange rate is calculated using the rate of the day.

Well, giving you guys an update. I got my liscense renewed and went to the interview today and it went well. I'm hoping for a callback for the second interview in the process, and it sounds like I'll get it. They need to run my driver's liscense to check my driving record (which is fine) and if it comes back okay they should call me. Here's hoping.
