What Rules Should be followed before Closing a Thread

Rules...there are no rules...

...Just stupid people playing god.

Aren't we here, in part, just to have fun and be a little silly?
NO!
Didn't you read the forum description?
This is where we talk about the "important stuff"! :cmad:

Yes, sometimes I'm mystified by the frivolous crap that is allowed to survive and what awesome silliness is slaughtered, and what the motivations were.

...Now that people are complaining about the mods once again, this thread will be wiped out in exactly 27 minutes.

Where did the Chamber threads go?

Anybody know? People were replying and enjoying and the threads are gone?

the_ultimate_evil - I like the second one better too...

see that is what happens when you pull three all nighters trying to get college art ready for a deadline and end up going through your entire dvd collection to stay awake

*also watching gremlins 2 when having no sleep is not something i'd recommened*

how did i know your twisted mind would enjoy that:oldrazz:

Recently a Mod closed a thread.

It wasn't because there were too many swear words in it.

It wasn't because there were too many dirty pictures in it.

It hadn't devolved into a flame war.

It wasn't even offensive in any way that I could see...

Use those guidelines.

If there is too much profanity
If there are too many dirty pics.
If is devolves into a flame war.
If the thread is offensive in any way...close it

The reason for closing the thread wasn't specifically stated, however, I think the Mod closed it because... it was a foolish thread. A bit of silliness posted just to get a response. Something some folks might even have thought was just plain stupid...

Frankly, given a day or two, it would have died on it's own.

Dumb threads tend to die off on their own.

Which brings me to my questions:

Should there be rules governing when a thread should be closed?

Absolutly. Or eles Mods could close threads on a whim. Which the thread in question appeared to be closed because of.

Is the Hype a better place because Mod's close threads that serve no real purpose (like the Bump thread)?

Aren't we here, in part, just to have fun and be a little silly?

And how long do you think this thread will be allowed to live?

Most threads you could argue serve no purpose. I am here to be entertained. Sliiy thread, dumb thread, or otherwise. I thought sillyness was encouraged. Hey laugh once in a while.

Personally i think there are seperate rules for the Community forum and the rest of this message board.Notice how threads are closed more often here, than in other forums.

All of my awesome threads get closed. :down I'd say f**k this place and pack my s**t but there are some people here who are awesome. :cmad:

Maybe the mods thought the thread was too stupid to be left on here.

Betch plz, if that were the case members would be banned left and right. And center. The interweb has all those s**ts.
