Elder Scrolls V - Part 4

I think that either the Summerset Isle and/or Valenwood are likely for either DLC or The Elder Scrolls VI.

The Elder Scrolls VI: Dominion, which focuses on Summerset Isle and Valenwood could be a tremendous launch title for the next gen.

I wouldn't mind seeing the next game see the escalation of the war between the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion. Despite the White-Gold Concordant ending the war, I feel like it only served to delay it, plus I REALLY hate the Thalmor, and want to kick the stuffing out of them more.

But I feel like there should be a choice in whether you want to help the Dominion or Empire, the same way that you could choose Empire or Stormcloak. It should be like the Skyrim Civil War, but have more dire consequences than that questline brought.

Todd Howard said that they're looking at doing fewer but bigger DLCs for Skyrim, closer in scope to actual expansions, but even so, I think doing a whole new country would be way too much.

Not counting any potential MMOs, I do think we're going to get a "Dominion" game next. Though I don't think it will be a launch title. Bethesda has probably shifted focus onto Fallout 4 at the moment.

I would love it if the next game had a more grounded, realistic war story like that rather than another "Big evil guy is threatening the entire world." In fact, I wish more games in general were like that.

Huge Epic Battles could be the next Dragon Encounters or Oblivion Gates.
I'm talking trebuchets, battering rams, ladders, maybe cannons. You could lead sieges, or run to the aid in the defense of a fortress or city. HUGE battles that current gen technology couldn't handle.

I actually think their next games will be the next Elder Scrolls and that Fallout MMO that they fought all those legal battles to secure the rights to.

Don't worry, Bethesda wouldn't be handling any MMOs, so they would be free to make more single player games.

Well after paying $3 million dollars to secure the rights, that should have been theirs anyway, I can't see them having that go to waste.

Oh, they won't let it go to waste, there will be MMOs probably of both the Elder Scrolls and Fallout variety. I'm just saying they wouldn't handle it personally. They would have their sister studio, Zenimax Online do it, since that's what it was made for.

From their FAQ:
How exactly are you related to Bethesda Softworks again?

ZeniMax Media owns both Bethesda Softworks as well as ZeniMax Online Studios. Bethesda makes AAA console-oriented titles, and ZeniMax Online (us!) makes MMOGs. Because we are all inside the same corporate structure, we share IP and because our offices are only about an hour apart, we can work closely with Bethesda's staff.

Did anyone here craft a "back story" for their character(s)?

I like thinking that my character in Skyrim is a distant descendent from the Hero of the Oblivion Crisis. I dont know why i do that.

Heck yes! Not only did I make up a back story, but I also kept an in game daily journal of my character's exploits. I then recrafted those daily entries into a book written by an fictional character 50 or so years in the future. It's all in a .doc document.

I haven't finished with the character so I haven't finished the 'journal'. It probably sounds obsessive, and I'm not sure I'll even do anything with it in the end, but I knew from experience with Oblivion and the Fallout series that I wanted to keep some form of record, too much fun stuff happens that always gets forgotten.

I like to think that my character is a descendant of Talos, and that he was sneaking into Skyrim to return to land of his ancestors after his family died in Cyrodiil.
I have another character that's a Mage that was sneaking into Skyrim to get to the College of Winterhold, and plan on making the College his home through the rest of the game.

That's pretty cool guys. Interesting to know I'm not the only one who reslly gets into the world of Skyrim.

Sure the battles would be a lot of fun too, but I was more referring to somehow being involved in the political and military machinations leading up to war.

At this point I 'm not even thinking about the "next" game... I'm thinking about how bad I want some DLC... Even if it's just DLC news.

I made the same character that I used in oblivion. He is just a bit more rugged looking. Guess he's immortal. Lol

My first Orc character was a descendant of my Orc from Oblivion.

off topic alert;

i've noticed that in this board everybody pretty much pro empire and hates Ulfric, whereas on other boards, i've seen pretty much the opposite....interesting.

Anyway..back on topic.... i'm almost done with my current character, and i'm thinking...for the next playthrough...i'm gonna do something i've never done before! not even on Oblivion!

I'm gonna play as a filthy Khajit.

Does anyone else find it weird they didn't add scaling. I can get why they left it off in Morrowind and Oblivion but considering how rugged the terrain of Skyrim is, it would've been a welcome return to the series.

Maybe its because this board is smarter than other boards?

So, Skyrim did not spark the decision, but today I sent my Wii, 20GB launch 360, and a few of games into Amazon for a trade in. They are having a deal to get $50 extra if you trade in a Wii towards purchase of a 360, so I am going to be getting a 250GB 360 slim.

Skyrim on PS3 was one of the games I traded in, and I'm planning to get it again for 360 when I order the new one. I'm losing a 100+ hour character, but gaining a non broken version of the game. I know they are releasing a patch soon to "address" the lag, but if they couldn't get the issues fixed on any of their previous games I don't have the confidence that they really will now.

Lesson learned: don't buy Bethesda games on the PS3. I had a horrible experience with New Vegas for the PS3 so I should have known better, but I knew Skyrim would have big DLC and didn't have the extra room on my 360. :oldrazz:

I'm excited to enter a world of installed 360 games.
