Elder Scrolls V - Part 6

I wonder if any NPC's will be able to ride dragons. It's probably too much to hope for, but some sort of midair combat would be pretty amazing (although I suppose you could battle unmounted dragons too).

You know, I was thinking, in Oblivion part of the main quest involves your companions Martin and Jauffre riding on horseback with you. I cannot understand why this can't be something that your followers in Skyrim can do.

There's a couple more great features from Oblivion that they took out, that one you mentioned, and player's headtracking.

I think overall Skyrim is the better game. The gameplay is much more refined and they really added alot to improve the game in many aspects from Oblivion. However, I have to say I had more enjoyment with Oblivion in the grand scheme of things. I cant explain why but it held my interest longer even after dropping it for months and coming back to it later. Once I dropped Skyrim, I found it difficult to get back into and my level of excitement died down, which I dont think really happened with Oblivion a few years back when I was playing it.

Not gonna happen, and it really doesnt need to but it would be interesting if they remade Oblivion with Skyrim's engine. Maybe the modding community can work on that. I think that could be a near perfect ES game

I think Oblivion just felt more alive. Skyrim had better and more gameplay mechanics, voice actors (or atleast more varied ones), variety of content, visuals, and a much better main story. However I felt, as antiquated as they feel technologically now, as if Oblivion's cities were more alive with the diversity. The forrests and lakes were overall nicer scenic views that made me want to go out and explore. All of that made me feel more emersed, which is why I had 3 decorated homes on one char in Oblivion, and still haven't decorated 1 in Skyrim.

Then there's the DB, and Thieves Guild quests, especially the Thieves Guild line. Stealing all of those relics, each playing a vital role in stealing an elder scroll. It felt like playing out something that would be written about in history books. The DB had some of the best NPC's in the game, IMO, as well as several different ways to assassinate. Heck, I miss the poisoned apples, heh. I felt Skyrim beefed up the main story to be vastly superior to Oblivion, but fell short in those 2 guild lines. The Mage Guild was about equal to me, though I didn't really care much for it in either game.

It might be a small detail that I've latched onto but I miss the NPCs interacting with your follower. I've had NPCs getting into full conversations with The Adoring Fan when I've taken him to the Cyrodil Market districts in the various towns. that's lacking in Skyrim. I have to say I do prefer the aesthetics of Skyrim but there are just a few things I miss from Oblivion.

Oh, that and I was thinking how interesting it would be if the decisions you made in Skyrim for certain missions, like killing Titus Mede II, carry over to the next Elder Scrolls game. Some continuity would be pretty nice rather than starting all over again. I hope the next is going to be all out war with the Altmeri Dominion as it seems to be hinted at with both Civil War storylines. If any Elves deserve an imperial thrashing it's the Altmeri Dominion.

Skyrim is a quantum leap from Oblivion towards my preferences. Crazy how such a good game still has so much room for massive improvement.

It's like i said in my previous post, it's depends on how much you like the overall storyline of the game...if you like it, the ending/payoff would be much more satisfying/rewarding.

And about that mod,i've heard that some modders may have been working on it, but Bethesda has made it clear recently that they don't support that kind of mod( they made Nexus took down a mod that combined FO3 and NV).

It's because Oblivion took place in and around the Imperial city, which was a melting pot. But thism is also one of the reason i preffer Skyrim actually. I like the fact that the whole thing took place in an more or less isolated area...The fact that it centers mainly around the Nords and their traditions, which is loosely based on the Nordic traditions, gave the game it's own unique identity. It's more immersive to me because the focus on that one specific area.

The DB in Skyrim got a more sinister feel to it IMO,mainly because of their psyco leader. And i'm glad that their questline isn't as long as the one in Oblivion. I finished the DB quest in Oblivion because i wanted the companions you get after finishing the quests...but man...it took forever to get there!

I agree. This and the player headtracking movement. I wonder why Beth decided to take out this small but VERY important things.

My guess on the assassination of the emperor is that it will be an easter egg. A book on the games history will probably mention the emperor died from unknown causes, or say his ship sank. I do have to admit though that it bugged me that you killed the Imperial emperor, and no one comments on it. I'd at least liked to have heard guards comment on it (if they do I missed it).

Facing off against the evil king of dragons in the underworld alongside ancient warriors after riding a dragon to storm his Earthly stronghold wasn't climatic enough for you? :woot:
Walking up the steps at that very-hard-to-get-to place that the dragon takes you to is the best part of the game to me. Quite pissed that I can't go back there! What was the place called again?

They deff did not. It didnt feel like a war at all. It felt like a tiny little skirmish. Of all story elements in this game, that was the weakest.
Agreed.

Throat of the world

My favourite part of the game is from Dawnguard, when you gets to visit the Falmer settlements on those mountains. The long climb and the fights to get there...the whole thing is just so damn well designed...

Funny how much i like Skyrim so much, i'm not even a fantasy fan. And Skyrim isn't my fav Bethesda game...that honor goes to FO3:oldrazz:

I´m thinking that Serana will get some sort of an upgrade in future DLC.With how popular she gets in such a short time, i´m guessing that she will get at least a new feature...or that if the new DLC gives you a new companion, it will be modelled after her, AI, scripting wise.

I think he's talking about the place that leads you to the portal to Sovngarde where you face Alduin.

I really don't know why they took out these slight but important details. I'm always thinking "Hey, it's okay to chat with my Follower. They don't bite...well maybe Cicero does..."

Oh right!..he said where that dragon TAKING you...i though he said talking...curse my glasses!

It's one of the first thing i've noticed about Skyrim btw.The npc's in FO3/nv and Oblivion seems more...alive.The npc's in FO3 especially since they're so damn chatty.Like in Skyrim/Oblivion, they also have stock dialogues that they repeat with certain NPC's, but they also recognize other NPC's that 'shouldn't be there'...like for example, your companions. The NPC's would often come out to your companions and say things like 'hey, hello, good morning etc'

Horseback riding is something that really bothers me about Skyrim. I love Skyrim, it's a great game. I have well over 300 hours invested in my first character alone (I have three characters). But how come only the player and the occasional nobleman can ride on horseback? Every major city has a stable, why the hell does everyone walk everywhere?

On a somewhat related note, I've always been a bit disappointed that the only time you ever really get to ride the horse and cart is in the intro. I had assumed we'd have the option to sit in the cart for the entire journey or skip it if we wanted to (or jump out). I guess it worked out too awkward mechanically, especially what with being attacked every thirty seconds.

I've seen the occasional Hunter riding around on horses as well as the Noblemen. But you'd think the roads would be teeming with horseback riders, excluding the Headless Horsemen ghost rider I have seen too.

I'd love it if they could have the cities open to horseback riding too. It's nice in the small villages to just ride Shadowmere through the streets, but in the larger holds you're stopped by the gates. It would be nice to have sprawling cities where horses can be ridden through the streets, maybe the odd horse and cart going by. It would make carting stuff to shops to sell when I'm over encumbered a lot easier. It would seem more organic and alive a game for these minute details to be implemented. That's why the head tracking or the NPC conversations with your Followers when they walk by or roadways for Horse related traffic would be a nice touch.

Yes, that's one thing I would agree with hands down. Miss the days of Daggerfall that you did that and all it's pixel dot glory. You could run to the cave entrance, drop it off on your cart and horse and turn around and head back into the cave (that was one massive run on...).

That's one of the reasons why I play Daggerfall still, granted, you can get filthy rich easy if ya didn't die half way through a dungeon from some disease. Hehe.

Is that the Elder Scrolls game where if you riled up the town guards you were met with an incessant chorus of "Halt!" I've seen videos where the players would do that just to see how many guards saying "Halt!' would flock to them.

Anyways, the ability to maneuver through bustling city streets on horseback or wagon drawn would make the game feel more organic and alive to me.

Speaking of horses, i personally don't like my character riding horses, mainly because i sucks at mounted combat. But i love this mod that allows your companion to ride horses...and they're better at mounted combat than my character ..lol!

Damn your mods! (Xbox user)

I want mods :(

Sorry:csad:

But if i'm not mistaken, there is a way to mod on Xbox...

That guy, masterchief, he knows more about it than i do.You should ask him if he's shows up.

There's a way to mod it if you want to be banned when you get caught.

Whoooa don't get his hopes up. :o I don't think there's a way to get mods like that on 360, but I do know you can modify saves to get whatever items and character stats you want. I haven't done it in a while but if anyone's interested I could probably set aside some time to look into it more.

Please stop spreading misinformation.

I think some people here would appreciate it. Like i say, i don't know anything about it, i just know that it can be done, but i dunno the details...
