Daredevil Elektra/Matt or Karen/Matt?

Which pairing do you prefer?

Matt and Karen. Matt and Elektra is an ultimately self-destructive relationship. She's the woman for Daredevil to be with, but he would ultimately lose his Matt Murdock half and the moral center with it (he would abandon his father's wishes entirely about him being a lawyer rather than a fighter).

This. Also why I prefer Claire/Matt.

Remember midway through the season when Elektra told Matt she regretted trying to change him. She'd come to realize that the light he has inside him is a *good* thing. To present-day Elektra, this was even an admirable trait, so much so that she wanted to try to be "good" herself. Now of course there would always be that constant struggle for her between "good" and "bad" which in turn which cause more clashing between her and Matt. But ultimately and ironically, she is the one person in his life who accepts both sides of him.

I like Matt/Claire and if I had to choose between them and Matt/Karen, I'd definitely choose the former. But to me, Matt and Elektra are just on another level. The others can't compete.

She may have realized that it's not a good idea to change Matt, but that doesn't mean she's capable of changing her personality and not trying to change him. Ultimately, her personality has a certain selfish nihilism that I don't think she'd ever get past, even if Matt brings out the best in her.

Oh, I don't think she'd actually need to change her personality. It's that struggle with her identity that partly makes her and her relationship with Matt so interesting to watch for me. I was merely pointing out that she is the one person whom Matt could be himself with. Sure, he struggled with balancing Daredevil and his professional obligations. (To be expected, given the circumstances.) But Matt Murdock, the man, and what he believes in was still alive and well with Elektra. He was open and vulnerable with her in a way that he couldn't or didn't want to be with anyone else. And I think that's because he fell in love with her before there was a Daredevil persona. Yes, the darkness always existed but so has the intimacy and vulnerability. The fact that he couldn't give her up on her is essentially a testament to their relationship, to who he is, and how he knows there is more to Elektra beyond her "destructive" personality.

Yes. Plus Elektra just isn't that interesting to me anyway. I thought he clicked far better with Karen overall.

I don't care one way or the other. But ever notice people seem to prefer it when two heroes or a hero and a villain date(as long as their interesting) rather than when a hero and an ordinary person date?

You have Clark and Lois over in DC.

For Marvel you have Peter and Mary Jane

Well to be fair we also have Batman and Catwoman. The MCU film also has Star Lord/ Gamora which certainly plays along that trope (in the beginning at least).

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I can't really decide. The problem is that Elektra/Matt is really bad for Matt. . . while Karen/Matt is really bad for *Karen*. Neither of them are really healthy relationships.

Now, Claire/Matt, that *could* work, since Claire is willing to call Matt on his BS. Of course, part of what would make it workable, also leads to Claire walking away because she doesn't want to deal with the drama. . .

What about Elektra and Karen, eh? :awesome:

Pretty much this.

What about no?

Anyway, definitely Matt & Elektra, they click far better & Elektra isn't nearly as foolish as Karen has thus far proven to be. She's his equal.

Neither. I'm a Matt/Claire fan all the way.

I think they should cross movies with the TV and have Elektra with Loki. They seem like a good match.

Don't know about Karen though.

After Defenders I don't think there is any doubt as to who Matt truly loves, [BLACKOUT]it's Elektra[/BLACKOUT].

After Defenders, Matt shouldn't end up with either of them.

Karen just doesn't seem to comprehend that Daredevil is who Matt is. Elektra just doesn't seem to comprehend Matt's more alturistic nature. Meet needs someone with similar morals, while also understanding that Daredevil is a huge part of Matt's life.

That being said, Matt/Elektra is simply the more compelling relationship.

I mean, Elektra/Matt is hella unhealthy, but boy is it more interesting to watch. And it's obvious she's the one he loves, no matter how unwise that may be. The heart wants what it wants, lol.

Honestly, if anything showed why the relationship shouldn't happen, it was Defenders.

Yeah, the book on Karen and Matt is closed, she just doesn't get him, and with her role in the Punisher, there will probably be some romance there.

Matt and Elektra are doomed in love for each other, they can't help it, they can't really love anyone else.

I don't think it makes a ton of sense for Karen to be OK with Punisher but not OK with Daredevil. To me, there's a fundamental difference in the relationship. With Frank Castle, she feels pity not love.

Also, Frank never presented himself as anything other that what he is. The problem is, when she met Matt, he seemed like a very different person than he turned out to be, and she's still holding onto hope that he's really that first person she met, and that his other persona she's learned about is just some detour or diversion.

Sure, but she's holding out hope that it's a diversion precisely because she wants him to have a different life. But could she date Frank and not have the same hope that he would resume a normal life?

I prefer Claire/Matt, but out of these two options, I prefer Elektra/Matt.

This, right here. Elektra is *obviously* bad for Matt, but gosh, I'd rather watch that than Karen's constant harping on his extra-curriculars. Got's to have the drama, and I find Elektra's drama *way* more interesting than Karen's.

Karen seems like a better match for Frank, anyway.

I wouldn't wish her on Foggy. Foggy Bear can keep on having a 'with benefits' relationship with Marci.

Just keep them the heck away from Luke. That boy's going through the lady characters like Montezuma's Revenge...

Keep in mind, Karen killed Wesley and has kept it a secret, Karen has another side to her and could find some solace in Frank that she can't in Matt.

I couldn't care less about Karen. Her character feels like she's just shoehorned into this, it doesn't really do anything for Matt's character and her story was over in DDS1. Honestly she could go.

I'd rather her not be with Frank either. I really don't think she'd be able to handle that for long. Yeah she has a dark past and has done dark things but how many are as deeply dark as The Punisher?

After Defenders anyone like Matt/Jessica? Usually I'm sucker for that kind of (fictional) couple (the bantering and working together with sexual tension kept off-screen, like Kanan/Hera for example), but I also like the brooding hero/femme fatale trope (i.e. Batcat). Besides Matt/Elektra are doomed to only love each other and the actors' chemistry is off the chart.
