Mystery/Thriller Elementary - CBS's Modern Take on Sherlock

I hope they don't think that this can compete with the BBC's Sherlock.

Well it doesn't have to, so I don't think they care if it can lol. It just has to appeal to an American audience.

I really don't know what to think about this series. I'm not wanting to stay away from it because of Sherlock, but I just don't like the idea of a female Watson or it being in New York.

Personally, I'm all for revisions and new interpretations. All that matters to me is that they capture the personality of the characters. If Watson doesn't represent Watson in terms of character traits and in his relationship with Holmes, then I'll lose interest.

I've always thought there was a certain underlying bromance tension between Holmes and Watson. They can certainly continue that here and never have the characters connect in an intimate manner. It'll be nice to see a lead male and female character who deeply care for each other, but have no romantic interest. Hopefully, that's the way it works out.

I'll admit that I'm not exactly excited for this adaptation, but I think too many people are disregarding it before it really has a chance to succeed or fail.

Here is to hoping this is good. I love the characters of Sherlock and Watson. Any idea when it will air?

Ill give it a try. But if they EVER try to hook up Holmes and Watson I dont know if I could continue.

I've read that the relationship is platonic, but who knows where they might be in 5 seasons.

I'm sure you're being sarcastic, but in case you're NOT...

yeah right, like 5 seasons is really gonna happen, much less two... :whatever:

Eh, American audiences eat up Holmes-based characters. Why do you think house and monk ran so long?

Remember what happened between Apollo and Starbuck In Battlestar Galactica reimaging.

I just hope If they keep Holmes and watson platonic they give Lucy Liu a romance with other guy.Lucy Is too sexy not to have some guy Into her.

Thank you, future man, for the insight. Think you can tell us how many million viewers this premieres to? :o

Key difference being that Holmes and Watson are an iconic duo.

Starbuck and Apollo? Not so much.

a large number the first week with a gradually diminishing amount as every week progresses, no doubt...

I wonder if Miller's Holmes will be as much of an a-hole as Cumberbatch's.

He really wouldn't be Sherlock if he wasn't really. Sure they may tone it down some, but it is a big part of his character.

I have no clue how to think of that...although I do like Johnny in it...and Ms. Liu is nice on the eyes.

So far I haven't seen anything bad about it, but nor have I seen anything to get me excited. Just gotta wait for the premiere I suppose.

I'm surprised that Johnny Lee Miller kept his British accent, I didn't even know that they were keeping Sherlock British, which it's good. Until the BBC's Sherlock returns I'm willing to give it a shot, it doesn't need to compete against Sherlock for the superior version, all I'm hoping for is that it's good, having two good Sherlock Holmes series is certainly something I won't complain about.

what's the point... it's using the exact same story lines it seems and so far the only good thing i can see is some decent production values and Miller's performance... doesn't even look like it'll hold a candle to the original

lol... the "original".
