Mystery/Thriller Elementary - CBS's Modern Take on Sherlock

I don't think Harris Moriarty was anything special. He did a good job but for me his version isn't one of the standout portrayals of the character.

Finally got around to watching the finale. I didn't understand how Holmes deduced Adler was involved with the whole birthmark thing. That made no sense to me

If she were kept captive all that time like she claimed, when would she have had time to go and get it removed? And "Moriarty" wouldn't have had it removed for her. So she obviously wasn't as much of a prisoner as she led Holmes to believe.

Makes sense now. Thanks for clearing that up

I was certainly surprised by the twist. And [BLACKOUT]I loved Dormer's portrayal of the character.[/BLACKOUT] The whole finale was superb. Looking forward to next season.

I bet hes going to be a little bit of a goofball.

I'm guessing scruffy posh genius.

Mycroft is brilliant but kind of lazy in the books so I wonder if he will be like that in the show.

I hope they show that hes a genius.

Its been awhile since Ive seen the BBC series with Cumberbatch, but from what I remember, Mycroft wasnt really presented as any kind of genius. More like a government agent with a dry personality.

He was a genius in the modern retelling but every bit as lazy as he was in the books.

Some pics from the episode based in London next season that were filmed in Trafalgar Square yesterday.

just caught up on this show. was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining it all was. the whole season was fairly consisted in quality. cant wait for the second season. looking forward to ifans as mycroft

I really hope in the London episode that Sherlock visits Baker Street. He can't go to London and not visit there. Although it would be weird if he actually sees the statue of Sherlock Holmes there. :hehe:

Baker Street in Elementary is on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch.

The BBC Sherlock's Baker Street is on Gower Street which has the same Georgian town houses as the Baker Street.

I wonder if some dumb tourists are going to start turning up at Redchurch street after this episode airs thinking its Baker Street?

They filmed at New Scotland Yard, Paddington Station and by the Thames on the South bank as well

What's wrong with filming on the real baker street? It's not like this is a period drama and the current one looks too modern.

^
I think they want to differentiate themselves form the other modern Sherlock plus its for an American audience who doesn't really know the Real Baker Street looks like unless they have been there.

Rhys Ifans has been cast as Sherlock's Bother Mycroft
I hadn't heard about that, but it should be interesting to see how he portrays his version of Mycroft. I look forward to seeing what the characterization will be between him, and JLM's Holmes, and Liu's Watson. Is it known if he'll be a regular in the second season or just a recurring role?

I like these two, and think they are a great pairing, and I liked the first season, and can't wait to see the second season.

Somewhat off-topic, but can anyone tell what brand of sunglasses JLM is wearing in the photos from filming?

Somewhat on-topic, I was pleasantly surprised by how good Elementary's first season was. I particularly enjoyed the character development for both Holmes AND Watson, especially the latter.

Is anyone else trying to purchase Season One on blu-ray?

For whatever reason, I've looked on Amazon and Bestbuy...and can't find a blu-ray version anywhere. I'm seeing the DVD box set will be coming out this Tuesday, but that's it.
