Eli Roth and Bruce Willis to reboot Death Wish

Not sure why she got banned, but it was a few months ago.

Well damn, I didn't always agree with her, but I had tremendous respect for her and she was very insightful in her posts.

Once again..

If the movie wasn't using the exact title of a classic it would be far more appealing.

This doesn't look bad it just doesn't look like Death Wish.

Hehe.

Were you looking for the Charles Bronson 'stash or something?

They made like 5 of those Death Wish movies and each one got more absurd than the last.

I saw the first 3 Death Wish... I just don't see Death Wish having something that could be taken as "Oh this is definitely Death Wish from the 80s."

And to be honest, the story of Death Wish was pretty straight forward. Wife got killed daughter got raped, Average Joe takes the law in his own hands.

What about it to you was not Death Wish?

The biggest difference between the original Death Wish and the way this one looks is that the old one was a gritty and grimy film with a very ordinary guy on a mission to fight back against rampant street crime, this looks like it's aiming to be a cool action film with a badass anti hero doing cool action ****.

If you're going to bother to remake something, might as well try something different with it. That's how I look at it. Also even the original film didn't actually capture the spirit of the original book either.

I'm kind of hoping that this trailer is hinting that they'll delve more into what the public thinks about what he's doing.

Yeah, I understand wanting more grittiness. I mean I don't know what Eli Roth and Bruce Willis are wanting to get away with in this new adaptation. So I'll watch out of curiosity.

At least the trailer looks a bit better than this one, no?

Haven't watched the trailer but I just see all the "controversy" on Twitter

This feels more like it should've been a vehicle for Liam Neeson rather than Bruce Willis. He doesn't seem quite the right kind of person.

Or they could've gotten Jon Bernthal.

When is this set?

And why is the trailer making it sound like Iron Man at the end?

Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon looks better than this **** not to mention Frank Castle's solo series is allegedly coming out at around the same time. I feel like they're having way too much fun with it. The original film was a lot of things , but it wasn't fun.

some are trying to make it about racism but if people bothered to watch the original death wish films villains were mostly white.

i think bruce willis was wrong choice for lead.he is viewed as perhapes even more macho image than charles bronson was at the time.they could use someone more belieable as law abing citizen who only picked up guns because of what happened to his family.

I disagree. Neeson in a role like this is played out. And then Bernthal is too on the nose. He's already doing his own Death Wish with The Punisher

Let's face it, how many movies similar looking to this do we get a year? Guys family gets killed or kidnapped and he snaps in some way. Either on the big screen or DTV there are so many of them

I think if you're gonna make a Death Wish you get an actor who doesn't really do dark roles like this often someone who you can turn from a family man to a really dark character. Like Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hanks, Jason Bateman. Before anyone says anything, yes I know that those actors have done R rated or mature roles before my point is just I think you should go for that Craston in Breaking Bad effect.

Otherwise it's just boring. Oh cool Liam Neeson doing another role like this. No one really cares anymore. You get someone who does these ass kicker type role before...who really cares? At least casting out the box could give it somewhat of a hook

This isn't racist to me but that's really silly logic. "The original villains are white, so the remake isn't racist"

soe on twitter are trying to say death wish was always racist.point is in past most of villains were white so that is faulty logic

Just watched the trailer.

This looks really bad. Willis' performance looks so phoned in. And as people said this does not have any grit to it. It just looks so polished and meh.

Carnahan I remember saying he had a dark gritty take on LA akin to Collateral. That would've been dope.

This just looks like cookie cutter, mediocre at best mess

Okay, how about Henry Cavill?

He'd be able to play it with a moustache like Charles Bronson

Cavill is fine as I said the point is just be creative with the casting. Because let's be real the idea of Death Wish is played out. You gotta do something else to elevate it.

I mean Liam Neeson doing something like this again is just...ugh

Well if they really wanted to be creative, they should've made it the wife who comes home to find her husband murdered and her daughter raped. Get someone like Michelle Pfieffer or Marisa Tomei as the vigilante.

Or they could've just had Elizabeth Shue as Paula Kersey and she comes home to find her husband Bruce Willis murdered rather than the other way round.

Every Liam Neeson movie is Death Wish or Dirty Harry or whatever the ****.

"You're wife is murdered and your daughter is raped"

and then they lighten the tone with Willis making haha with what he does. Watching this movie will give you whiplash from the 180 turn in tone.

Just imagine "Taken" with Liam Neeson making wisecracks while looking for his daughter. Just. No.

This seems tonally awful. I never watched the originals with Bronson, but at least in the Bacon movie, it showed that his quest for blood was responsible for the rest of his family suffering and he died a broken, withered shell. This seems to be more "Teehee, vigilantism!"

Which, of course, is exactly the kind of message that 50/60-something white men in this country need to be hearing right now.

The villain will be a transgender immigrant from Honduras that wants to make affirmative action a permanent staple, thereby phasing out all of Bruce Willis' ilk.
