Eli Roth to Shoot Transformers/Cloverfield Scale Movie this Fall

That didn't kill the film. The fact that it was pretty much a remake of the first and that it somehow was even worse had to do with it. Also I think it came out the same time as Ocean 13.

Thanksgiving could be cool. With the way it sounded with him wanting a unrated dvd makes me think he wants to work with FOX.

Yeah, I love the piracy excuse, any movie that bombs, it's almost always blamed on piracy. Maybe, just maybe, no one saw the movie because it sucked.

In this case, a workprint leaked online before the movie was released.

Isn't he supposed to be directing Steven King's 'Cell'? That sounds somewhat like it could be the big disaster movie he's talking about.

At least Cell was the film he was going to tackle after Hostel: Part II, but then it bombed and Roth went cry in the corner. :/

Does anyone think this might be the adaptation of Stephen King's Cell he's been promising for years?

Eli Roth Talks Big Endangered Species Project

It may be sci-fi, but director Eli Roth (Hostel) is promising some horrific disaster in Endangered Species, a film he's calling a mix of Transformers and Cloverfield.

He told MTV recently, "Quentin [Tarantino] actually loved the draft and had some really great suggestions, so I'm tweaking the script. And I'm working out some visual effects tests, which is going to determine how I shoot it."

The film is set against an urban backdrop and shooting begins next year. "The characters inform all the cast. There are certain actors that I love and that I'd love to work with and certain people I have in mind. But it's easier for me to hone and finalize and get the script finished and then the method by which I'm going to shoot it and then the order, and then cast it."

Roth recently produced the exorcist thriller Cotton.

Transforming Monster Torture Porn?

lol Oh Eli~

I hope it's better than the Cabin Fever movies and the awful Hostel films he's done. I've got to admit he has talent, but I have hated all his films thus far. Inglourious Basterds does not count.

How does he have talent if you hate all of his films?

He has a talented visual style and the ability to manipulate his audience quite well. I just think his films are terribly written and offensively stupid. If he could use his visual and pacing talents on a good film as well as his dark sense of humor, he could still make a good movie.

Basterds is a great movie.

i swear to God, Roth is the new Rodriguez and Tarantino. "I'm gonna work on this project..I'm gonna work on that project" and nothing happens.

At least Quintin and Robert has an extensive body of work, so they can get away with it. Roth has just three movies. I really don't know how he pays the bills.

I don't like them but I can see why some people. But they're all don't have that cult classic vibe that I get from early Sam Raimi or Peter Jackson. So pretty much, I really think he thinks highly of himself. Until he does something like 'Thanksgiving' or this movie for that matter, he's just a one hit wonder whose dragging out his 15 minutes of fame.

Roth has eternally earned my scorn for his role in making "torture porn" films popular. However, I do like disaster films and monsters. I'm so torn :(

This could sound cool or just plain horrible.

Anyone have a link to the thanksgiving trailer? Never got to see it over here as the films were split up.

Endangered Species....it's giant killer pandas.

I just hope it isn't like the camera work for Cloverfield with the "Look you can't see anything isn't this cool and realistic!":awesome:

Might as well have just uploaded it to youtube. At least it wouldv'e fit better there than the movie theater.

Still looking forward to this. I like Eli, he knows his movies, and his movies look good. I just don't think hes made a really good one yet.

Eli Roth Planning "Endangered" Next

By Garth Franklin Thursday July 7th 2011 02:23PM
"Hostel" and "Cabin Fever" filmmaker Eli Roth tells Screen Daily he still wants to make his long-gestating sci-fi apocalypse film “Endangered Species” as his next movie.
The $40-60 million budget flick will deal with an end of the world scenario that's "a little more grounded" than aliens, robots or pandemics. Due to the expense, Roth has been working hard on the script and re-writes to ensure he has it locked before he begins shooting.
Roth is producing the horror-thriller "Aftershock" set in the aftermath of the Chilean earthquake back in February. That project begins shooting this Fall.

This better happen. Roth caught the "Tarantinto/Rodriguez" bug of too much talking and not enough action. Maybe Tarantino less these days.

You know who else got a great budget to shoot his own movie that was big and epic? Snyder with Sucker Punch. And we know how that turned out.
