Elijah Wood, who starred in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, has weighed in on the controversy over New Line Cinema's decision to dump Peter Jackson as the director of the LOTR prequel, The Hobbit. In an interview with Britain's Empire magazine, Wood said that he was dismayed that "it's ultimately a business decision and not at all considering the fans." Wood, who would seemingly be too old now to appear in the prequel, nevertheless observed, "I can't imagine any of the original actors would want to join" a production that was not overseen by Jackson. "How can you imagine a prequel that didn't look the same, and didn't have the same continuity?" he asked.

Good on you, Frodo!

Good.

Peter Jackson directed the LOTR trilogy.
He should direct The Hobbit, as well.

Stupidness....

Jackson or nothing.

This is stupid, and the lack of professionalism is equally sad. Movie-making is a buesiness, it isn't some kind all alone in his basement painting. And the contracting of directors/writers are buesiness deals that don't concern the outside world. Obviousl New Line has it reasons, and Peter Jackson is handling himself horribly, I love Terry Gilliam but now he's pariah and he HAD a WORTHY cause which was to save a movie, he already made, and was completely his. I don't think the fans realize the damage there actually doing, buesinesses don't like being hassled, and they can be petty. Anyway the whole thing is ridiculous, when Martin Scorcese had his film Gangs of New York butchered, did he go crying to the media, he took it like a man, and then made the excellent Aviator with miramax. Anyway, when the smoke clears, it'll be interesting but for now, this is all BS...

Wow... are you going to learn to spell business properly?

:D

How would you have liked it if George Lucas didn't get to do the prequels for his trilogy!

Wait...

Don't be childish, I'd love for Jackson to do The Hobbit, but we have to consider that someone else could do a better job than him on the movie, as controversial as that may sound. He did a fantastic job with LOTR, brilliant.....But what if someone else can do an even better job with The Hobbit? from what I gather, it has a different feel than LOTR, so it might be a good thing. Now, I'm not sure if Mckellen would like to be involved in the movie or not, so a movie with a completely different director and cast might be a hard sell.

Who?

I don't know, but that's the whole point, we don't know if someone else could do a better job, or who that person is. Like I said, I would love for Jackson to do The Hobbit. But if he's not going to do it, we might as well be open minded about another director taking the job.

I guess...but there is that high chance of failure.

There's still a chance of failure if Jackson shoots it.

The Spice channel is making a new version of LOTR. It's called:
Lord of the A*** Rings: Frodo on Sam Wise.
