Same here, dude! I love the Connery films 10x more than the other Bond movies.

YOLT was good yes, but it was woefully obvious that Sean was bored out of his mind with the role, which detracted from the film's appeal to me.

Even if he was bored he still managed to give a really good performance. That's how good Connery is. Even when he's bored he still gives an awesome performance.


I like DAF a lot as well, it just lacks that cool-as-hell 60s vibe that Thunderball had in spades.

It was 1971. The movie would have flopped if it was still stuck in the `60s. For the first `70s Bond movie I thought it looked great.

I'm probably going to get crapped on for this, but I actually quite like Moonraker. It was thoroughly lame in parts, yes, but it seems to me that it suffered heavily from what I think of as the "Jar-Jar Binks" syndrome-- if you were to simply edit out all that slapstick crap with Jaws what you would have remaining is an above average post-60s Bond movie (certainly better than anything that came out in the 80s methinks). Sure, he winds up in space amidst a laser battle, but who cares-- the Bond films have always had a high element of fantasy and it's only because they have ranged from the tense realism of FRWL to the outlandishness of Moonraker that the series has managed to survive so long.

Moonraker is bad, but I don't think its the worst Bond film or anything. It actually has plenty of good scenes. Thats the problem, however. The movie is good in parts but overall its really bad.

There's people who talk crap about DAF, but if you think about it most people would agree that its the 2nd or 3rd best film from the `70s. And we got 5 films that decade.

I think the first three bond films = trifecta; Thunderball is OK, but it's not one of the "best".
