I find the actress to be a bit younger to play Cassandra Nova. But I hope she plays exactly like the evil counterpart of the Professor in the comics.

I also forgot Cassandra has telekinesis, so that would be very handy in combat scenes.

Interesting choice. I wonder if she’ll be an alternate universe Charles Xavier?

Or if she's an evil twin of the Professor. But the actress is as young looking as James McAvoy in First Class. Unless this Cassandra Nova time traveled from 1960s, it would make sense that she's the twin sister of the Professor, or the evil variant of the Professor.

Good villain. :like: Simple look, good portrayal and great showings.
Really liked her apart for some wonky stuff towards the end.

Yeah I was a little confused by their motives towards the end and they didnt get a great deal of time to develop here but the performance was great and was creepy enough with their powers that I wouldnt be against seeing the character again.

By the way guys, just wanted to let you know (since I wasn't aware initially as well) that Emma Corrin is non-binary, so they go by they/them pronouns. :whoops:

That being said, I really liked their performance in this even if Cassandra herself was somewhat undercooked as a villain. Though that thing she did when her hands morphed and clawed through someone's head was disturbing as hell, the CG artists did that effect pretty well.

Idk for me, they
fell into the usual MCU villain trap. And the role could have been given to any mutant psychic - Psylocke, Emma, Dark Phoenix, Legion.

The hands phasing into someone's face was a cool effect though.

How would that work with
the whole part where Logan manages to briefly appeal to Cassandra's humanity with his dramatic monologue about Charles (a great scene imo)?

It was one of the best scenes in the movie, and was also needed since it was one of only like three truly dramatic scenes in the movie.

Wolverine
could have used the same words if any of those mutants interacted with Xavier in their world in the first place, and this Cassandra Nova was sent into the void when they were very young. Psylocke, Emma and Jean are X-Women in other worlds and Legion is Legion especially with the Legixn show.

I wasn’t sure if they would be a good choice for Cassandra but they were amazing! Really glad they kept the fighting in the womb thing. I still wish Cassandra had been the big bad of the x-men reboot but I still had fun

I hesitate to say it was a waste of Cassandra Nova because Emma Corrin did make the most of their screen time, but she was undercooked. It just didn't feel like the ideal way to introduce and use Emma Corrin in a story mainly focused on Deadpool and Wolverine where Xavier isn't even present. But I did like their performance. I feel like if it was an actual X-Men movie where they give the character proper focus, Nova would've made a fantastic villain.

I feel like they used Cassandra Nova here as the lead villain as Marvel Studios don't have the intention of using the character in the rebooted X-Men movies.

Cassandra's power of phasing her hand into people's heads to read their minds is straight out of the comics, it was an interesting variation on the use of psychic abilities... Cassandra-Nova.jpeg

She was a good villain, had some funny lines, the bean one got a good chuckle out of me. Don't know anything about the character beyond what I saw here though. But still, pretty cool psycho *****.
