EMPIRE Exclusive!!

I honestly like the grittier look. But I really don't care either way. He looks great regardless.

He does, but the shiny mask makes him look more slithery and scary.
And it was latex in the GN. Why not just stick with that then?
Probably not very easy to breathe through.

other than manhattan's legs, it's awesome

his legs and speedos look painted on. but the pics are awesome =D

his legs are more muscly then an Olympic speed skater's  weird looking. But I think it was just some wierd photo shop.

These pics are great though. I LOVE this one.

Latex? No.

I am pretty sure it is just cloth.

The trailer makes the mask look great, but these picture released outside the trailer make it look really thick and wool like, and I kind of don't like that. If the mask looks like it does in the trailer during the whole movie, I'll be happy.

two layers of latex with black and white viscous fluid between them. that's what it is in the book anyway

The impression that I got from Watchmen was that Jon was supposed to look like the epitome of human development- no need for hair, perfectly muscled, etc. Movie Jon, in that context, looks appropriate.

The more I look at it, the Nite Owl costume in this movie is better than any Batman movie costume I've seen. They should hire these guys for the next Batman film.

Indeed it was. And yet, until the film, it never occurred to me to ask how the hell Rorschach managed to breath through something like that but that was the second thing I thought of when we saw that first still (right after HOLY **** AWESOME)!

I am so looking forward to any scene with her in it.

Nice article written by someone who's clearly a fan.
Nice the casting I heard for the Greengrass version (apart from Washington as Doc Manhattan) was right on the money.
WatchmenComp.jpg

Like Levin I would have liked to see the Greengrass version too. Hope some of the designs pop up on the DVD.

When was it revealed that Denzel Washington was going to be Doctor Manhattan in Paul Greengrass version of the movie? I’ve never heard that rumor during the time Greengrass was on the project. Was Joaquin Phoenix, Paddy Considine, Denzel Washington, Hilary Swank, Jude Law and Ron Perlman actually cast in the movie or did Greengrass just have meetings with them?

I guess you missed batman 89 to batman and robin then.
The suit is way to metal for batman.

also manhattan's legs look weird because the top half of the body is in the trailer. And in the trailer hes not wearing any pants.

I'd love to see Greengrass's costume designs. You think we'll get it on the DVD?

Someone at comic-con asked if we'd get a history of production on Watchmen, and Zack Snyder said he'd never heard about it, but that it'd be cool to see, and the he'd like to have it on the DVD. So maybe.....

Those movies suits were way too rubbery, and fake muscles are lame. None of them were really that good, imo. Still liked the movies though, aside from Batman and Robin.

I just noticed something....Silk Spectre II is freakshows wife in Harold and Kumar

I read of Denzel Washington yesterday on the scans from the Empire article.
It was news for me. The other ones were rumored from different sources to be in talks for the roles (and Empire confirmed Law, Swank and Phoenix).
Law was in talks with Snyder too, being a fan of the book, but they eventually parted ways.
Considine and Perlman confirmed that they were approached for the roles, and the good Paddy ended up in another Greengrass movie (The Bourne Ultimatum).

For some reason, this movie looks more ridiculous as we get pictures.

Ozy needs to get a new mask BTW>

If by "ridiculous" you mean "awesome" then you are correct.

And Adrian's mask looks quite different and much better on the brightly lit Empire cover than it does on the darkly lit official site. And keeping in mind that he barely wears is in the comic and therefor will barely wear it in the movie, I think it's a rather moot point.

A for effort on trying to be a downer though on your part.

i love when people post something like 'this looks stupid', but don't want to look like a troll, so they add 'maybe it's just me' or 'for some reason'.

Indeed she is. So that's a pretty good preview of naked Silk Spectre II. She was also naked in The Heartbreak Kid and I wanna say she got naked in that episode of Entourage she was in. So yeah...they picked the perfect actress. :cwink:

I can't imagine Hilary Swank being down with being openly naked more than once in a movie. But then again, Greengrass wasn't going to do everything by the book.

And on the subject of Greengrass' cast, I remember them saying he talked to Simon Pegg about Rorschach as well. And I also heard that Paddy Considine was considered to play Rorschach in Snyder's.

Well, to an extent, I think even the characters acknowledge a certain ridiculousness to dressing up and fighting crime. Nite Owl's a paunchy middle-aged man, and Silk Spectre always seemed to resent her mother for steering her towards following in her footsteps, especially having to wear a ridiculous costume. Watchmen seems to present a world where there's no real wonderment to Superheroes, and when they appear in this world, it is a little ridiculous.

It says latex in the book? Hmm, don't remember that.

Well thank god they aren't going for a latex look in the movie, that would look a little ridiculous.

Eh, they could've used a material similar to what was used in Spider-Man, for his mask. It wouldn't look so crazy. Especially if they delve into the origin of how he made the mask.
