Remember those awful John Cusack/Nite Owl rumors?

(Shudder)

Yes. Remember when Wilson was cast how everybody was saying that he looked way too cool and young and they should have cast Cusak?

Yeah, I think there is one with Dan, and Laurie at a diner. Can barely see him though.

Are there any pics online of Patrick Wilson as Dan?

not quite sure, but I for one think the casting call is pretty much excellent so far. patrick wilson's face really seems to capture the sort of neurotic innocence of dan. his suit even makes him seem like he's got a little pudge which is great.

I second that shudder. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there another rumor about Mel Gibson being cast as The Comedian? That gave me night terrors.

Still not totally buying into Snyder's vision. There isn't even anything obviously wrong... i just wish the whole thing looked more 'real world'.

Roll on the full trailer.

I agree, all we have are images and interviews. The interviews can be thrown out the window (although they're a great read and shows how into it everyone is) because good interviews doesn't make a good film. V-for Vendetta is all I need to say. not much to be negative about, but for those getting really stoked, they also have nothing to really go on. no evidence apart from capturing panels from the comics. I'm sure that in itself is difficult, but the true difficulty is in capturing the depth, and until I see evidence I too am skeptical. 300 wasnt exactly a 'deep' comic but it sure was a bone-headed movie.

i like the costumes though and a good deal of the aesthetics, just kind of afraid it wont be steeped in the banal, cruel and mundane as in the comics.

one thing i sure do like is that veidt looks like a *****e. i know hes not quite like that in the books, but in the end as we all know, he is a bit of a *****e, regardless of the ethical arguments one may make in favor of his 'choice', he is still arrogant, power-mongering, manipulative, and most of all unsure. the images of the movie veidt stir those up for me so i think i like him although he's a bit peter-parkerish in stature.

I like all the pics to date, but I think this is the first one where I see two heroes together.

I have a stupid question, but is there a scene in the novel where they work/fight all together?

no. there is a scene where they're all in the same room together. Captain Metropolis herded them all together to become the "Crimebusters!!!" but that didn't last too long. The Comedian has a monologue, burns some of Metropolis' stuff, and leaves. This scene is pretty much the pebble in the pond -- most things that happen in the novel are ripples born from this scene.

For some reason.

I cant wait til we see some Silk Spectre boobies
is it just me or does her costume have nips?
or does she just have her high beams on?

i wonder if any of that geeked out lust will be properly tempered with the rape scene. talk about subverting the preconceptions of a genre.

anyways i had a bit of a crush on both of the spectres from the comics and i kind of do for the film now...i originally thought her costume was a bit too...'cool' and modern but upon revisiting the comics, i couldn't see them going any other way. its practically the exact same but the film version is actually a bit more tasteful since its a single piece. can't imagine thinking about her emotional depth when she's wearing JUST the black of that costume with an invisible yellow slip over it.

most of them hate each other, for various reasons.

really? :wow: didn't know that. Oh... how sad... :csad:

thanks for both answers.

ya know, normally i think she is just ok looking, cuz she has that giant forehead, but the bangs really work for her.

Her forehead is slightly prominent, but I wouldn't say it's that big. I don't mind it at all. She's a stunner!

Well, there is a scene in which Dan and Laurie beat up some Top Knots while out of costume, and technically they are both fighting in the prison at the same time.

I keep seeing people complain about V for Vendetta in this thread, but I really, REALLY don't see why. I thought it was friggin' beautiful.

If I had one complaint about the movie so far (and it's a minor one), it would be that that shot of Rorschach makes his head and the hat look kinda funny. Otherwise, I'm absolutely awestruck.

PS - To the guy who says the movie doesn't look 'real world' enough, I'd argue that it's stylized as differently from the real world as the book was. It's perfect.
