Comics End of MJ and Pete?

The thing is....IF they kill MJ or make her forget they are married or if they get divorced or whatever lame thing they decide to do to "fix" the so-called "marriage controversy"........it too will most likely end up being retconned back to MJ being alive again or maybe them dating again and eventually being married again after fan outcry...!!

The thing is, Marvel, (being Joey Q. especially), likes to do these big whiz bang ideas-stories of his BUT then after the initial buzz of it wears off, he is left with LONG TIME marvel fans who are not going to be happy with his "fixing" of the marriage after he is done tinkering with it.

I might add....

Let's have stories moving forward witht hings that already exist...such as WELL WRITTEN MARRIAGE STORIES.

Changing these established things just give us new stories for a few months until someone comes in and writes the nextt MJ is back story and then eventually end up having them remember or get married again.

LEt's keep moving FORWARD with good stories and not keep retconning and fixing and tinkering "so called" problems of the MJ marriage.

...There is another farmer.

I was here first! :cmad:

If she looks as good as her username sounds, then I'm there ;)

"a four-part crossover that redefines the hero and his status quo"
yeah yeah yeah...now where did I hear it before...
IMO there are not that many ways how to "tackle the controversy(?) of their marriage":
MJ may :
1 be revealed to be a lesbian
2 be killed off
3 die of hmm... cancer or something
4 be revealed to be some clone
5 ....(no more bright ideas, but Im sure JMS and co have some...)

Well thus ends quality Spider-Man comics. Oh well.

Dr. Strange doing it and erasing the whole MJ knowing, marriage and unmasking makes sense as JMS has alwaays been way too obsessed with "Mystic Spider-Man." It would also explain how Peter could be working at the Daily Bugle again and how the replacements (I can't remember his name for the life of me but he did Spider-Man: Blue, The Long Halloween and DArk Victory) are going to make it like the "Stan Lee fun run."

They are basically going to reset Spider-Man and his history 40 years. Thanks Marvel. What Stan Lee created is over now.

Exactly JQ/JMS need to damn well leave the marriage alone.
Far as I can tell it already got fixed back in ASM Vol 2/#50 when they got back together.
Like you say the fans will revolt if they dissolve the marriage.

I just don't get Joe Q's perspective on SM. The marriage is only a problem in his mind.
Yeah sometimes it's not well written or does not seem to be too developed as a relationship within a comicbook, but it can and has been done right in the past.
Check out Sensational #32- Sarcasa knows how to write MJ so she seems real, meaningful and interesting in the context of Spider-man's wife. That is what should be concentrated on.
Any relationship in real life needs effort and care to maintain, and writing the relationship of man and wife within a comic book also requires considerable effort and some maybe thought put into it once in a while.

I think it’s pretty obvious JMS/JQ are incapable of the task, and instead look for the back door and sensationalist stories as the way out for everything to do w/ Spidey these days.
As far as I can see it’s wrecking the whole character and mythos though, by pissing in fans faces who have invested years of their life following PP/SM.
Why can’t the SM comic editorial keep it real?
You would think that Marvel would be happy enough w/ the amount of $$$ they make from the movies and associated merch, than to aim to dumb down the comics too.

F**k Joe Q, I just hope Spidey can be salvaged come September following JMS exit.
You gotta wonder tho, will the new team on ASM just be following JQ’s directives?

Figures.
At least JMS is leaving. He wrote good dialogue (I have a terrible feeling that's spelled incorrectly), but his story arcs and ideas were big fat disappointments. The Spidey-Totem story....gaah....

Now if only JRjr would come BACK...

Basically he sucks s-hit, Welcome to the hype Wolf.

from this week's Joe Fridays -
NRAMA: Okay, would killing MJ affect Peter in such a way to fundamentally change the Spider-Man character? How so? Gwen died? Others he's been close to have died...

JQ: Well, it’s not like Peter has experienced so much death in his life that he’s unaffected by it. Any death is going to change his life. How could MJ dying not effect the character and who he is moving forward? I go back to the Speedball example I mentioned before. Fans want characters to grow? Well, death is a part of growing up and growing old, so what’s left to complain about?

QUESADAAAA!!! :cmad:

Sounds like she's getting the axe. Niiiice. :yay:

Hopefully metaphorically at least. The way I figure it, MJ could get severely injuried, falls into a coma, and is on death's door. Then Loki offers Spidey his "favor" by having Spidey go back in time and "relive" the day of ASM #537 and Spidey changes history. Unfortuneately, this ends up causing a temporal anomally--which is what Loki wants cause it causes chaos--and Spidey has to go back to other moments--like the unmasking--to fix things, only to make them worse, with Spidey in temporary alternate realities, not unlike that really awful movie the Butterfly Effect. Seeing how he can never get it right and keeps creating anomallies, Spidey then gets help from Dr. Strange to fix things, but it results in Spidey no longer being married and no one knowing he and Peter Parker are the same person.

Then again, according to some poster at comic boards, what really happens is that after Civil War, Mary Jane does die, Peter retires from being Spider-Man (presumably after the Back in Black story arc) goes back to school to get a new degree (presumably under his Ben Reilly alias) and ends up living with Firestar (presumably because she bears a very close resemblance to the late Mary Jane). So maybe "One More Day" takes place after all that, resulting in MJ being alive again but no longer married to Peter.

Yeah, that's a possibility. I'm just really surprised that the person who basically set this up is the Kingpin. Usually he's been pretty busy with Daredevil but I guess he wants to focus himself on the FIRST thorn in his side, The Amazing Spider-Man.

You know what I wish? I wish Joe Q would leave Spidey the hell alone. All we seem to get is event after event, after event.

good call. that actually sounds quite plausible, especially the part about Loki. what bothers me is that it seems very reminiscent of what occurred in The Flash back in '03.

I was thinking the exact same thing actually....

"NRAMA: Will it fundamentally change the Spider-Man character?

JQ: No, One More Day will not change Spidey. At least no more than we’ve seen in the past. Bottom line is that Peter and Spidey will be the same character we’ve all grown to love over the years."

Jeez make up your mind, is spidey supposed to change and grow or stay the same?!? How often can you contradict yourself! MJ has to die so spidey can grow, but he's still going to be the same spidey he's always been??? I'm sorry, but when people lose someone so close to them, they are NEVER the same (just look at Gwen's death). I just want to punch this guy and get it over with

..Is JQ penciling this 'One more day' crap that comes out late summer?

Look
I tend to ignore all this stuff whenever it rolls around because I know it doesnt make a difference.
Its all temporary, yea its a bad move, at first IT WILL be interesting, just as the masking is/was, etc etc
And once it gets old it gets wiped from marvel history just like always
No one ever stays dead.
