Haha, I don’t think there’s any movie where I outright hated Reeves and thought he was a bad actor.
I like Reeves a lot but even I have to say he was abysmal in Johnny Mnemonic, Dracula, Dangerous Liaisons and Little Buddha.
(And though it supported a decidedly non-canonical interpretation of the character, Nicol Williamson’s core portrayal was quite good.) That said, I’ve learned to live with and appreciate other, nontraditional versions of Holmes. E.g., Cumberbatch, RDJr. and even a dashing Roger Moore
(in a surprisingly decent 1976 TV movie). So I’m not going to get too wound up that the Great Detective is now looking a bit like a modern-day heartthrob.
OTOH, if you can accommodate his interpretation, then “physically imposing” isn’t a big stretch. (As per canon, Holmes was over six foot and proficient in boxing, “baritsu” and fencing.)
