Enterprise vs. Galactica vs. Star Destroyer

A Star Destroyer would make short work of BSG and Enterprise E and would still make it back to base before lunch.

dude .. even the Enterprise-B can kick a star destroyers ass..

Enterprise has shields BSG doesn't
BSG vipers have only bullets.
Enterprise E can travel at warpe nine.

Do the warp numbers mean how many times faster it can go than light?

Does warp five equal five times faster than light?

Dude, a Star Destroyer has hyperdrive which could provide a tactical advantage in executing a surprise attack. And apart from bludgeoning the Enterprise-E with her turbolasers, her compliment of TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors and TIE Bombers would pick the Enterprise apart.

Yes, the Enterprise-E has shields, but so does a Star Destroyer. And for every quantum torpedo and phaser-banks, a Star Destroyer has turbolasers. What could turn the tide are the TIEs.

Why would they fight?

But they seem to move faster than that, it would take them six years at warp nine to go sixty light years.
Actually, warp 5 is not 5 times the speed of light.

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, warp drive works on an upward graph. Warp 1 is the speed of light, whereas warp 6 is equal to 392 times the speed of light and warp 9 is about 1649 times the speed of light. Warp 10 is unachievable because it is of infinite speed. The fastest recorded was warp 9.95 (though the Voyager did reach warp 10 with dire consequences).

not true... in "All Good Things...", the Dreadnaught "Enterprise D refit" was able to travel at a speed of warp 13, due to advances in warp technology

That alternate universe was created by Q. Doesn't really count.

you realize that the Enterprise E is not the most advanced ship, right...

that honor goes to Enterprise-J

Enterprise J is not mainstream. It's a glimpse of the future. Heck, we've never even seen what it looks like from the outside.

Star Destroyer would lose first because it's using an alien technology that existed a long time ago. Followed by BSG because their technology is strictly based on the 12 colonies (advanced human race), heck, even the Cylons could beat them easily. Therefore, the true winner would be Enterprise simply because they use multi-alien, up-to-date technology.

Enterprise E's modern photon torpedoes will overpower Star Destroyer's obsolete "enhanced" ion cannon. Enterprise E's sophisticated Deflector Shield would easily withstand bombardments from BSG's human-made pathetic kinetic energy weapons.

However, since I'm a hardcore Star Wars fan, my choice was obvious.

What a Star Destroyer lacks in arsenal, she makes up in sheer size and numbers.

A typical Star Destroyer is 1,605 meters long with a crew compliment of 37,000. Enterprise-E is 685 meters in length with a crew compliment of 800. That alone should give a comparison of how huge a Star Destroyer is compared to the Enterprise-E. And for her size, it is fairly obvious that her shield generators are greater than the Enterprise-E's.

That notwithstanding, a Star Destroyer carries 72 TIEs. Sheer number.

And 'obsolete' as they may be, a Star Destroyer has 60 turbolasers and 60 ion cannons. Enterprise-E has 16 phaser banks and 10 torpedo launchers.

On the other hand:

It wasn't even a fairfight - Star Destroyer is a mother ship which carries 72 starfighters. Colonial BSG carries a standard payload of 75 Vipers. Enterprise E carries what? 2 transport ships?

Enterprise E would loose on sheer number of starfighters alone.

A Star Destroyer is 1605 meters in length while BSG is 1265 meters, however, BSG packs more armaments than the Star Destroyer.

Imperial I-class Star Destroyer = 60 turbolasters, 60 ion cannons
BSG = 32 blaster batteries, 2 turbo laster cannons, 12 x 20 megaton solonite missiles and 2 x 400 megaton solonite bombs.

In this respect, realistically speaking - BSG will kick Star Destroyer's ass!

It is a fair fight. Enterprise-E has greater manoeuvrability than a Star Destroyer. And if ONE quantum torpedo can penetrate a Star Destroyer's shields, that can create considerable damage.

One flaw in BSG is that it lacks shielding.

But BSG has megaton nuclear warheads! SD don't! All we need is one kamikaze Viper pilot and smash the protruding shield tower!

As a matter of fact, a Star Destroyer has NO missiles at all in her arsenal. No torpedoes, nothing. Only turbolasers and ion cannons.

But given the fact that the megaton warheads are not energy-based projectiles, I'm willing to bet that the Star Destroyer's turbolasers can gun them down.

Hmm. Choosing a winner is not so easy after all. Each has great pros and cons.

If the Enterprise-D has enught firepower to destroy a planet then the Warship Enterprise-E (built during the dominion war) can easly destroy the galactica and a Star destroyer and fighters have never been effective against a Trek starship, thats why starfleet only use Heavy bomber style fighters..

and the funny thing is that Enterprise-E issent even a Heavy Cruiser
