yeah...Do the warp numbers mean how many times faster it can go than light?
Does warp five equal five times faster than light?
Dude, a Star Destroyer has hyperdrive which could provide a tactical advantage in executing a surprise attack. And apart from bludgeoning the Enterprise-E with her turbolasers, her compliment of TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors and TIE Bombers would pick the Enterprise apart.
Yes, the Enterprise-E has shields, but so does a Star Destroyer. And for every quantum torpedo and phaser-banks, a Star Destroyer has turbolasers. What could turn the tide are the TIEs.
yeah...
Actually, warp 5 is not 5 times the speed of light. But they seem to move faster than that, it would take them six years at warp nine to go sixty light years.
Because it would appease the fans? Why would they fight?
not true... in "All Good Things...", the Dreadnaught "Enterprise D refit" was able to travel at a speed of warp 13, due to advances in warp technologyActually, warp 5 is not 5 times the speed of light.
According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, warp drive works on an upward graph. Warp 1 is the speed of light, whereas warp 6 is equal to 392 times the speed of light and warp 9 is about 1649 times the speed of light. Warp 10 is unachievable because it is of infinite speed. The fastest recorded was warp 9.95 (though the Voyager did reach warp 10 with dire consequences).
That alternate universe was created by Q. Doesn't really count.not true... in "All Good Things...", the Dreadnaught "Enterprise D refit" was able to travel at a speed of warp 13, due to advances in warp technology
Enterprise J is not mainstream. It's a glimpse of the future. Heck, we've never even seen what it looks like from the outside.you realize that the Enterprise E is not the most advanced ship, right...
that honor goes to Enterprise-J
It is a fair fight. Enterprise-E has greater manoeuvrability than a Star Destroyer. And if ONE quantum torpedo can penetrate a Star Destroyer's shields, that can create considerable damage. On the other hand:
It wasn't even a fairfight - Star Destroyer is a mother ship which carries 72 starfighters. Colonial BSG carries a standard payload of 75 Vipers. Enterprise E carries what? 2 transport ships?
Enterprise E would loose on sheer number of starfighters alone.
A Star Destroyer is 1605 meters in length while BSG is 1265 meters, however, BSG packs more armaments than the Star Destroyer.
Imperial I-class Star Destroyer = 60 turbolasters, 60 ion cannons
BSG = 32 blaster batteries, 2 turbo laster cannons, 12 x 20 megaton solonite missiles and 2 x 400 megaton solonite bombs.
In this respect, realistically speaking - BSG will kick Star Destroyer's ass!

One flaw in BSG is that it lacks shielding.
