Ever notice...?

When I saw The Dark Knight Rises in theatres, there were a couple of scenes where I missed whole chunks of dialogue because the music kept swelling up.
I hated that too and I don't have a fancy home theater sound set-up so I can never know if to hear the movie in 5.1 audio or regular stereo.

And I still don't know what the hell the term "lossless audio" means.

Ever notice that lately the sound of voices/dialogue in movies is quieter than sound effects and music? It annoys the hell out of me. I turn it up so I can hear what they're saying, then as soon as an action scene starts I have to lower it because it's too damn loud.

YES. It pisses me off. I try and keep the sound to a low level in my apartment to be a courteous neighbour, but movies make it more and more difficult. Nothing worse than what is basically characters whispering to each other followed by what sounds like a ****ing plane crashing in my living room.

If that's the case, then the movies should be presented with subtitles! lol.

I find that using headphones instead pretty much eliminates the problem of not hearing dialogoue.

Lossless audio allows the exact original audio to be reconstructed from the compressed audio. Whereas lossy audio only allows an approximation of the original audio.

Lossless= original Source quality.

Lossy=compressed reduced quality not true to Source.

Lossless has better range and dynamics. Blu-ray presents sound as it was meant to be heard. In most cases if you dont have a 5.1 system you need to listen to the 2.0 audio track. Many directors (James Cameron for instance) will create the 2.0 track specifically so you dont have jumbled dialogue and too much audio crashing through your two speakers.

Also, the quality and calibration of your setup will determin the quality of playback. We are living in a hidef age and your equipment needs to be properly calibrated because the audio and video are intended to be seen and heard on calibrated systems. Just pulling your equipment out of the box and going at it wont cut it.

Anyone ever notice that extra who's in every movie/show known to man? (I made a thread about him years ago, lol)

Who is that guy anyway? He seems to have the easiest acting job in the world since he doesn't have to memorize lines and he doesn't have to carry the movie and get the blame if it bombs.

Ever notice how some of the most watched shows on TV are all about a group of *****ebags and a-holes friends who can't seem to function in everyday life?

I think dysfunction sells because dysfunction is normal, completely well functioning people or families most likely are hiding something dark or its a front and they're not that connected at all in comparison. Give me the Gallaghers any day of the week over Normal Rockwell's family.

That, and I'm guessing it's easier to write for "crazy" characters than "normal" ones.

The guy is called Jesse Heiman. He is 34 years old but often plays teenagers in Hollywood movies.

I'll probably always most associate him with being in Spider-Man. I've watched it so many times, and he always stood out.

Ever notice that we are any friends you know probably dont watch the highest rated "reality" TV shows... How are they getting ratings?

Most people watch reality TV to feel good about themselves.

The people that go on reality shows (at least the more sleazy shows) are incredibly horrible people that usually are looking for their 15 minutes. So when people see exactly how horrible these people are, they can look at themselves and say "at least that's not me".

I'd bet some of those friends are watching, they just won't admit it.

I've never noticed that in my life. I hear people say that all the time but I don't get it.

Ads being louder than programs was a big problem. Such a problem that a law had to be passed to stop it. The bill passed and the President signed the "Commercial Advertisement Mitigation Act" in 2010 which went into effect on Dec. 13, 2012 making it illegal to broadcast Ads at higher volumes than the program they accompany.

I notice that some Cable Shows and Radio stations schedule their commercials at the exact same time, so no matter what channel you tune to, they play damn commercials.
