Lol. This poll is highly flawed.

Mainly because it's Film that essentially defines these characters and properties to the mainstream in today's world.

The weighting of brand success should be heavily focused on the cinematic releases.

Quality is subjective, and 'better' is really an individual opinion. Let's face it, we're 20 jaded old guys on a superhero forum voting. We're not the demo for these films in general.

Objectively, when it comes to consistently great critical reception, audience reception, WOM, and box office (these are the only objective means for measuring quality for these big budget tentpole films), Marvel (MCU) most definitely, easily is the winner. Their path from Iron Man to Endgame has been an ideal outcome of success.

Marvel, and its not even close. No DC movie can compare with the sheer achievement and influence of the successful creation of the MCU project. Marvel Studios created something bigger than a single good movie, something so much bigger that it has basically reshaped and redefined the media landscape in cinema and beyond.

I think only The Dark Knight can compare, (*Maybe* Joker if we are being generous with our definition of a superhero film).

The Dark Knight had that genre-changing effect.

DC puts out some of the worst films (most of the time) and some of the best films (rarely) in the genre! That's what happens when you have director-driven projects, without strict producer-driven control.

Marvel's producer-driven model under Kevin Feige works the opposite way, but Black Panther is the closest they've gotten to an 'Oscar-bait' film.

The question itself is a little odd, I presume you're not asking DCEU vs MCU because the answer is pretty straight forward IMO in that the MCU is clearly several levels above it.

I assume you're asking every DC film ever vs ever Marvel film ever, in which case I'd lean more towards DC.

You'd have to be a biased MCU fan to claim that TDK was the only time DC made a genre changing film. Either that, or you've only really been paying attention to CBM's since 2008.

We wouldn't even be having this conversation without the significant contributions DC have made to this genre.

Yeah if it’s dceu it’s not really fair so that’s why I added everything to give dc a fighting chance

Yeah dc has multiple films that changed everything.
1978 Superman
1989 batman
Tdk trilogy as a whole
Wonder Woman
Joker

I answered as it was DC / WB ever and Marvel as a whole (MCU + Sony etc.)

Yeah I'm only looking at the modern films, no doubt Superman 78 and Batman 89 were influential.

Since we're comparing to the MCU, I'm looking at DC films within the 2000s-present.

Yeah this.

DCEU vs MCU and the latter wins by miles.
DC vs MCU and the former takes this easily.
DC vs Marvel in general is more complicated and I'll have to think about it.

MCU vs DCEU = MCU wins

DC vs Marvel = Stalemate or a little edge to DC because I started with them

All DC films vs MCU = tie probably

Non-MCU films vs DC films = DC but it's close, they're even with quality and bad films.

All Marvel films vs DC films = Marvel by a good margin but I still really like DC.
