Ex-Evanescence members re-unite under 'The Fallen'

Amy Lee is still in Evanescence. This new girl is joining a band called The Fallen, which happens to feature Ben Moody, Rocky Gray, and John LeCompt (the original members of Evanescence that Amy Lee has since fired from the band).

It's like saying David Kushner joined Guns N Roses. He didn't. He joined Velvet Revolver, which is a band made up of former Guns N Roses members.

1. Evanescence still exists?
2. Might as well call this new band Evanescence seeing how 3 of the original members are in this new band and this Smithson girl is a clone of Amy Lee.

I just did not quite know how to word the thread title without making it super long.

To be honest, I actually like this news. I like Evanescence, no matter what their personal controversy with each other, I will always love their first album. I also really liked Carly on her season of Idol, and felt she deserved better than what she got, especially finishing behind several of the no talent hacks that placed ahead of her. I will definitely be tuning in to whatever these guys do.

Wait, so is Amy Lee in or out?

Amy is still with Evanescence. Carly is starting a new group with guys who used to be in Evanescence, called The Fallen.

The ex-band members of Evanescence who were replaced over the last few years have decided to have this girl front a group they formed, called The Fallen. The article said something about Evanescence itself being disbanded, and that would suck, as I am a huge Amy Lee fan, but... we will see, I guess.

Apparently Amy said on the official band site that they're working on stuff for an album that would come out next year, so I don't think they're going anywhere.

This is like Alter Bridge and Creed's current situation (yes, Creed is back together for the short term) When Creed broke up years ago, the orignial bass player and current drummer and guitar player formed Alter Bridge with a new singer. Basically, you could call them 'New Creed'.

Creed is back together now, but only for a short two month late summer tour and for a new CD, FULL CIRCLE. After that, Alter Bridge will work on their third CD, thus breaking up Creed again.

Carly's performance of Come Together is probably my favorite performance in all of the seasons of Idol.

I don't think they do themselves any favors by picking a girl that will remind audiences, visually and (possibly) vocally, of Lee.

Unless their target demographic is Evanescence fans in which case they did themselves a favor by picking a girl that will remind them, visually and vocally, of Lee.

this title is misleading...almost had an heart attack

Sorry, lol.

I probably should have called it New Singer for Evanescences Old Bandmates. But that would still be confusing until you read the article.

I would think Evanescence fans would just want Lee. To a lot of fans, she was the band. She was the commanding presence in the band. I would think the fans would more than likely be slighted by the original band members essentially trying to recreate Evanescene with some new chick and just slapping a new name on it.

As for checking out the new song,

I hate the fact that one, you have to register on the site in the first place, and second of all, it insists on you submitting your mobile number. And then when you finally fill out the damn registration completely, all you get is a promo photo of the band, and a message to check your e-mail frequently until a link to download the song is sent. What kind of bulls**t is that?!

I agree, and I am one of them.

BTW, off topic, your sig... something similar was said in one of my favorite shows. Where did you get it?

If one of your favorite shows is BBC's Jekyll, that's where it's from!

I renamed the thread to be a little more accurate. (I about had a heart reading it as well.)

Great I can breathe again:woot:

Then the correct quote would be:

Hyde: Ever killed anyone, Benjamin?

Benjamin: Not personally. I have people.

Hyde: You're missing out. It's like sex... only there's a winner!

:D

Fantastic series!

And thanks for re-naming the thread, Marx!

You're very welcome. :cwink:

Your original title nearly gave me a heart attack.

I like Carly Smithson. She has a nice voice.

I liked Evanesence's first album (well half of it, anyway) and thought Lee had a unique voice. But save for a few tracks here and there, there later stuff has been bland and forgettable. So 3/4 of the band was fired in that time frame? What disagreements were there, then?
