Everybody's unhappy with the ending of X3, with Rogue taking the cure, so I've taken the liberty of extending the original scene. Here's what really happened - the cameras just cut out before we could see the end! :oldrazz:

ROGUE: "I'm sorry. I had to."
BOBBY: "This isn't what I wanted."
ROGUE: "I know. It's what I wanted."
Bobby takes her hand, and she vulnerably looks into his eyes.

Now, that's what we saw. Here's what we missed:

ROGUE: "I wanted to be able to touch my boyfriend."
The veins in Bobby's hand are bulging. Bobby gasps and his eyes bug out.
ROGUE: "And when I couldn't have that, I wanted my boyfriend to be understanding enough not to screw around on me!"
Bobby tries to pull his hand away. Rogue twists his hand, pulling Bobby toward her and getting in his face.
ROGUE: "And when I couldn't have that, I wanted to touch my boyfriend again. So here we are, Bobby, we're touching! HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?!"
He gasps. She lets go of his hand, and he collapses to the ground.
ROGUE: *Stepping over Bobby and walking out of the room* "Oops."

:woot:

Mean Rogue. I'd say...a rogue Rogue. Might be a huge twist, and not in character for the movie Rogue we had. But I had to smile at that scene. If Rogue was a more active girl in the movies, that would have been nice to see. :)

Except that Bobby WAS understanding, and he DIDN'T put any pressure on her, it was all on her, and SHE was the one all paranoid, jumping to conclussions about what Bobby and Kitty had going instead of actually TALKING to him about it.

Rogue came off as very childish and immature. "You're a guy Bobby, your mind's only on one thing"

Coming from the girl who gets the cure because she wants to boink her boyfriend.

Obviously, there was a big, fat communication breakdown between them. The only time we see them talking is when they have that fight; and at Xavier's funeral, do you see him paying any attention to Rogue? No. He's all over Kitty.

But what can Rogue say about that? All the implications are there, but one could just say that he was comforting Kitty because she was crying and not doing anything for Rogue because she wasn't.

When Kitty's all sad, Bobby takes her skating. When Rogue's upset after seeing him holding onto Kitty for ages in the Danger Room, what does he do? They have a fight, and he ignores her.

But what can she say? He could say that she was being oppositional, while Kitty was open and vulnerable. Sure, she may have been closed because he didn't show her any warmth or understanding; but it's all so vague. There's nothing concrete here: it's all about feelings.

Both in the Danger Room and while skating, Bobby's holding Kitty for a long time. Hey, Bobby, the missile's gone! You can let go of her! :whatever:

But did he actually do anything that can't be explained? He didn't kiss her. All he did was hold onto her. He could rationalize it, and she wouldn't really be able to refute it. The implications are there; but again, nothing concrete.

Did you see X2? He was putting pressure on her the whole time! It's understandable, but it's still pressure. Based on the difference between their relationship in X2 and their relationship in X3, I'm betting that he never put any pressure on her again after that kiss in X2: it probably became the "dinasaur in the living room" that drove the wedge between them. When they kissed, he felt incredible pain and pulled away from her. Emotionally, the same thing happened to her. He never reached out again, so she just continued to pull away until they wound up where they were in X3.

Coming from the girl who gets the cure because she wants to boink her boyfriend.
I would've been less sympathetic toward Rogue if Bobby had cheated on her. Seeing him paying all that attention to Kitty would hurt a lot; but he hadn't really given her a tangible reason to dump him. She could tell she was losing him, but he hadn't really "done" anything to her. Would she get the cure for a jerk who cheated on her? No. Would she do it for the guy who is struggling to remain faithful, though she can see him slipping away emotionally? Based on how it turned out, yeah. Dumb, but understandable. :oldrazz:

The extended scene I wrote was supposed to be funny, though. :cwink:

Hilarious extended scene! Yeah, Bobby was very accepting of Rogue - it was all in her mind that he was going to leave her for Kitty, but still...funny scene :p

I don't think that's what they were trying to get across. I mean, he kissed her in a deleted scene! It's kinda obvious there that they were trying to get across an attraction between Kitty and Bobby. I think they were successful, but there were ways they could have made it clearer.

For example, I think the biggest thing would have been more skin-on-skin contact between Bobby and Kitty. What made it so hard for Bobby to be with Rogue was that they couldn't touch. What attracted Bobby to Kitty was that she was touchable, but they didn't highlight that as well as they could have.

For example, I think that in the Danger Room scene, Bobby should have cringed and ducked his head down when the missile was going through him and Kitty. When he ducked him head, his cheek would have brushed against Kitty, and the skin-on-skin contact might have felt erotic to somebody who can't have that level of contact with his own girlfriend.

Then, in the Skating scene, Kitty should have been wearing short sleeves so that when he was holding her, he would have been touching skin. He could have rubbed her arm in what he might have rationalized as a reassuring gesture, when it was really to enjoy the skin contact. Also, I don't think they should have had him smile at her like he did in that scene. Instead, it should have been something more like bedroom eyes. It was obvious that they were trying to get across his attraction to her, but I don't think they were as successful as they could have been. The smile looks more friendly, whereas if he would have looked at Kitty the same way he looked at Rogue when they were in his bedroom in X2, the point would have gotten across a lot more clearly. (Personally, I think that Ashmore just had a harder time acting attracted to Page than to Paquin. Maybe it was a little more real for Paquin, lol :cwink: ).

Interesting points, Toril. I think the skin contact would be a better way, more serious, more real, and would have been nice to the audience, seeing a bit more the Bobby conflict, not just seeing the two mutants flirting, and almost kissing. They should have develop that feelings of Bobby a bit more.

Even with the deleted kissing scene, you could see that Kitty made the move, and Bobby knew it was wrong. Maybe there was attraction from Bobby's end, but it didn't come off that strong, imo :p

Oh, I just realized that the last thing I said might be construed as insulting Ellen Page. I didn't mean that at all! I really like her; I was just hinting at an Ashmore-Paquin attraction IRL. ;)

The whole point is that Bobby knows it's wrong! :cwink: He still kissed her in that scene; he just waited til she made the first move.

I agree that Bobby's attraction could have been played out better. I blame that on both Ratner and Ashmore: I just mentioned a few things I think Ratner should have put into a couple scenes; and I don't think Ashmore did a very good job with what he was given as far as attraction to Page.

Oh, that's hilarious Tori, why couldn't they have filmed that scene as an alternate ending? lol!

I think they could certainly have done more with the Rogue/Bobby/Kitty triangle but it still came across. While I was disappointed that Rogue took the cure, I can understand it.

What's interesting is if there is a X4 and mutants who took the cure are starting to get their powers back - where does that leave Bobby/Rogue? Especially if the cure is no longer available. Hmmm...

Thats not immature thats the truth...I dont think that statement should judge the entire character.

And she did not take the cure because she wanted to "boink" her boyfriend. She wanted to be able to be close to people. To be able to kiss and hold hands, and be able to feel part of the group...because with the mutation she has, she is always going to be somewhat a outsider.

In my script, they break up after she takes the cure. The guilt is just too great on both ends, especially with Bobby. Rogue leaves the mansion, but returns when the cure wears off. At this point, Bobby is together with Kitty - a hook-up he regrets when he realizes he's blown his chance with Rogue. :oldrazz:
